DHTML Popup Problems July 30, 2003 3:16 PM   Subscribe

The DHTML popups are driving me batty, and they won't go away. More inside.

1. They seem to be positioned relative to the link itself, rather than the cursor's position, so if I mouse over the wrapped portion of a link on the left side of the page, the popup appears on the right side of the page.

2. Some popups related to links in the right column appear on the left side of the page at random.

3. I click on a link with a popup that opens in a new window; I return to the original page; the popup is often still there, and will not go away, obscuring the content under it.

4. I've tried to turn them off via the customization form, but they still appear.

At the very least can the last item be looked at?

Your preferences are non-compliant, and must be assimilated. Wait until the pop-up windows have pop-up windows, then you'll see how useful they are!

I too have them turned off but to no avail. Mozilla 1.4, PC, XP

hmm. weird. I can turn them off and on at will, the last I checked. There should be a cookie value for the titles, if you delete that you should definitely get them to go away.

When all else fails (and before MeTa'ing), try tossing your cookies. Works 99.9999% of the time.

Is MetaTalk so overcrowded that I shouldn't post something that is A) causing me problems, and B) might be causing other people problems too?

No, but a problem that can be solved by clearing your cookies is neither interesting or informative to read about, and if your problem can't be solved by clearing your cookies, you'll get a much better discussion if you say that right up front.
