Funding people through public markets. I thought it could apply to all sorts of people and ventures, like weblogs and independent content.

I think this is similar to what David Bowie did when he sold Bowie Bonds. Here's another article on 'em. He did have an established back catalog to back the value, so it's not like a new guy starting out asking for money.

Yeah, I just think it would be cool if such a system were open to "everyone" - sort of an alternative to tipjars...
