What Dictator/Sitcom Character are you? March 5, 2000 1:41 PM   Subscribe

Collectively, the Weblog Community has been ga-ga over sites that claim to analyze your personality (the generic personality types, what kind of dog are you, your celebirty mate, sci-fi character types, etc., you know the links).
Well, now it's become popular to use the Dictator/Sitcom Character Guesser in the same manner, by answering all the questions as yourself.
Early results: Ev is Lou Grant, Jason K. is Jack from Threes Company, Brig is Gary Hobson from Early Edition (WHO? The guy who gets tomorrow's newspaper and tries to change it), Bumper Bob is Frohike from X-Files, Jezzicuh is Willow from Buffy, there's even a 'blogger who's one of the Powerpuff Girls.
Who am I? Er... uh, well... On first try, I came up as Hans Moleman from The Simpsons, but after changing my answer to "are you losing hair" to "no" (it was lost years ago), after 43 questions I came out as that wacky neighbor Wilson on Home Improvement.
SO WHO THE HECK ARE YOU?

By the way, when I published this trifle as a response to Weblog Junior High, I got an e-mail from an innocent reader asking "What's the URL for the Fictional Character Personality Test you mentioned?" Now I have something to tell them. (And I still believe WetNeale is going to come out as Bart Simpson)

Is this an attempt to identify the boundaries between this page and the main Metafilter Page?

Oh, I am apparently Oz from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When it asked me if I worked with an Angel I thought for sure I'd end up being Bosley, but apparently "bite me" doesn't have any special significance for him.

The question, are you from rural north carolina pretty much puts me in Mayberry, so it tells me that I am Andy Griffith.

Oh, to give you an idea of how precarious "cool" can be - I tried telling it that I wasn't Oz, and it guessed "Homer" 1 question later.

D'oh!

I baffled it. No sitcom character equates to me, so far. I like the way it appends all questions asked so far to the page, as it goes along.

Well, the computer seems to think I'm Dana Scully. I think I would probably make a good Scully, except that I'm totally inept when it comes to the good 'ol single eye brow raise. She seems to do this a lot.

(as an aside, not only am i unable to raise one eyebrow on its own, I can't curl my tongue, wiggle my ears, or flare my nostrils. But I can go cross-eyed ;o)

who is Rosie Davies from Planet Oberspace? Or are y'all just messing with my head? I don't really have a TV. I think asking if I was a freakazoid [yes] clinched this one for me.

I can't believe I am Greg Brady from the Brady Bunch.

Excuse me while I go blow my brains out.

I'm the Angel of Death from Touched by an Angel. If you do manage to blow your brains out, Jason, I'll apparently meet you there.

I turned out to Corporal Pike from Dad's Army. This character never had his own catchphrase but was always referred to as "You stupid boy!".

A bit too close to the truth for my liking...

I am Miss Jane Hathaway. That's pretty spot on.

I am Audrey Horne from Twin Peaks ... and i couldn't think of anyone cooler to be.

Barney from the Simpsons??? No way! I'm cool! I'm smart! I'm handsome! ...... Okay, but I am smart. I'm not freakin' Barney.... [pout]....

Wasn't Carlton from Fresh Prince of Bel Air the butler? Man! That will teach me to live in the Southern Oregon. I ended up answering "no" to a lot of it. (Next is probably "Are you cool?" and I'll get "no" on that one. . . .)

I came up as Mr. Garrison from South Park. I tried to tell it that I wasn't Mr. Garrison and it concluded that my character doesn't exist! (or something like that) So I guess I'm Mr. Garrison after all.

I am, it seems, Caroline in the City. I've never seen the show, so I don't know what that means. This random fan page says "She's the good girl who's surrounded by eccentrics"... that sort of sounds terribly dull.

On the other hand, if I go back and change my answer to "do you have a partner", I end up as Randy from Home Improvement.

Dawson from Dawson's Creek.

What's that supposed to mean? Seriously, I wanna know.

Xander Harris from Buffy? Hmm.

I backtracked on a couple questions: changing "are you best friends with a witch?" from yes to no (friends with many, but not necessarily "best" friends), I became Big Gay Al. It figures.

Hmmm. It said I'm Angela from My So-Called Life.

Geeze. I'm a guy. How sad. So what if my best friend is an alcoholic?

Well, um, I turned out to be Homer Simpson. I like donuts, and I really am a cartoon character... D'oh!

If my sister were missing, I'd be Fox Mulder.

(I didn't recognize who I ended up as in the end, so I didn't retain it... it's much cooler to be Mulder.)
