pictures from the Dallas meetup May 4, 2004 11:54 PM   Subscribe

The first pictures from the Dallas drink and meet are available. More are coming from Ufez Jones, who has the rest of the shout-outs on his camera. A good time was had by all, including the nice people we cajoled into taking pictures.

ufez, that is NOT a shoutout for the Leafs...it is NOT a....damnit. You bastard.

*deep, deep sigh*

Looks like you all had fun. Ahhhh springtime, when a Mefier's mind turns to meetups.

Woohoo! What a fine looking group of people! I think all photos should have captions, though, explaining everyone and everything1.

1 Those would be some very large captions.

Is thomcatspike actually Bryan Adams?

You have revealed to the world the secret zombie love-juju between hama7 and I, and the consequences can only be dire.

Let it be on your heads, my friends! I only pray that this won't start giving the kids the wrong idea...(but thanks for the shoutout anyway!)

The photo caption "weirdboys" couldn't be more appropriate. Very thoughtful bunch we have in Dallas, as suspected. Many thanks. ♥

Ha! I always knew!

And I've been spoken of in Texas. That is beyond cool. Thank you to Ufex Jones, my lone star operative. Although Thomcatspike looks distressingly normal. I was expecting a wild-eyed mountain man.

and dejah, hubba hubba.

No. He's Seth Green.

I tried to stop them...you know evil geniuses try to stick together...but they overpowered me with their charm and made me take the picture. ;)

Although Thomcatspike looks distressingly normal.

And he's astoundingly erudite and well spoken too...I was very confused.

Sorry, folks. Mine won't be up until after work. I was going to burn them on a CD and bring 'em in, but I'm out of blanks. Should be up by 6-ish, CST.

i miss that too, milovoo....and you guys are really cute! any hookups? ; >

Witty shoutouts.

And I don't know what I expected TCS to look like, but for some reason I'm really taken aback.

Oh dammit, Ufez. If I knew you guys were going to have a meetup I would have called the bar and given them my credit card number to buy you a few pitchers of beer. Thanks for the photos though. Do all the girls tell you you look like Brad Pitt? Between you and chicobangs we could start a Men of Spofi calendar!
posted by vito90 at 8:33 AM on May 5, 2004

Ah, dammit! I meant to do a vito90 "where's my fucking beer?" shoutout! I forgot due to, uh, beer...

she's an honorary citizen now. she'll stay.
we'll even find a way to smuggle in the Cheez Whiz and other plasticky, synthetic food she apparently craves.
but she's all ours now. nun ce prova', Ufez

btw I swear I had read "Koran Love" at first. I was utterly baffled.

Thomcatspike looks exactly like a younger version of my cousin.

I don't know what to think.

*feels dizzy and confused*

cute tho'.

what, did people expect thomcat to be a head in a jar or something? of course he's normal.
posted by amberglow at 12:20 PM on May 5, 2004

rrrrrrrrrr. I can't see the pics from here at work. Partly because of some weird firewall issue, and partly because I'm drooling with anticipation so much that I keep shorting out my keyboard.

Seriously. I need a towel.
posted by chicobangs at 12:24 PM on May 5, 2004

Okay, I just used someone else's terminal. The hamster in mine is apparently huffing gas fumes and can't make the wheel turn anymore.

Ufez, your Leaf exhortations were sadly not enough. (Who's got the cutesy handwriting?)

And that picture taker dude looks like he's gonna go on a killin' spree just as soon as he's had his rack o'ribs.

(Who's got the cutesy handwriting?)
Excuse the sloppiness...did it for a living: sewing names on sailor hats with a freehand sewing machine{better using a machine than a felt tipped pen}.

Is thomcatspike actually Bryan Adams?
No. He's Seth Green.

[looks in mirror]
[pastes jpeg of self into {thread with URL that shows your famous look a likes}]
Result: head in a jar
Had fun all, thanks for the ciders, Ufez, Dejah420 & Leias \!!!/

Just between us, does thomcatspike talks like that in real life?

What do you mean, you kid? Where is the love? 'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love? Plus I'm shocked to find out hama7 is into bestiality with chickens!!!

Here, Matteo. Now send romakimmy home!

gee... what can I say?
can I move to Texas, too? seriously. have dejah adopt me? (I promise to be real quiet and do lots of chores and cook every day real Italian cuisine. I'd be quiet as a mouse). I could share a room with thomcat, we'd sleep in bunk beds, read comics -- that'd be a lot of fun.

ps the sheer thought of 111 listening to the Black Eyed Peas boggles the mind. in a good way tho

Well, ok...it'll confuse the neighbors...and I live for that.

Chicken-Fried Steak Marsala

That's so wrong. Very funny, but so very, very wrong. ;)
posted by dejah420 at 10:54 PM on May 5, 2004

Bargle, yeah, but wasn't tonight's episode a real piece of shit? Dammit.
posted by Ethereal Bligh at 11:45 PM on May 5, 2004

Yeah, it really was. The Wes/Illy interaction was interesting and a couple of the Angel/Spike jokes were amusing but all in all it was just a silly waste of time, especially being the third to last episode.
posted by bargle at 9:41 AM on May 6, 2004

Matteo - Il tuo cognome sarebbe 'Sordi' per caso? ;)

If you adopt Matteo, deja, you'll have to send fotos of him dressed in a pair of shitkickers, tight Wranglers with dinner plate-sized belt buckle, obligatory 10-gallon hat, and one of them there "Western" shirts that look like Stevie Wonder wove the fabric. Just for shits and giggles.

And for the record I only sell family memebers in exchange for Dr Pepper, tortillas, and Velveeta/ cheddar/monterey jack.
posted by romakimmy at 9:56 AM on May 6, 2004

Rat bastard. I wish I could have made it out, but I've been less than conscious for the past couple of days. Glad to see that you all had fun.

(Incidentially, I remember meeting TCS at the last MeFi Meetup before I was aware of his distinct posting style. Some things in life just don't mesh...)

Amanda, I'm sorry you were sick, that's no fun. We'll catch you next time. :)

And a clarification on the cookie shoutout...

It read, in part;

Cookies for the Curmudgeons:

Quonsar
Miguel
ColdChef
Midas

and some others that I can't read now...because as the night got later, my handwriting got worse...but, I didn't want y'all to think we didn't love you too. ;)

If we're on the topic of celebrity resemblance,
Ufez reminds me of a young William Peterson
(ya know, from CSI) - but it could just be the beard.
