I can't make it tonight because of the super typhoon "Ma-on" that hit Japan yesterday, the F1 schedule for the weekend changed as a result, and I gotta be around for the qualifying session earlier tonight, followed by the race later tonight.

Hope you guys enjoy! Someone please pretend it's your birthday so the crew at 2112 sing you a Happy Birthday song in their martian language.

It was egg, I found a half a shell stuck to my bag when I went to leave.

I've started putting a few names, so I looked up old meetup pics to see if I had everyone right, but some people have more or less hair than they used to. Please help with the naming.

I'm proud to report that me and my worthy adversary milovoo got along famously. It was also great to met Smart Dalek and see the old crew, too. Sorry we booked after burritoville, but me and pips was bushed.

I don't know. You all were way fun (and my time away from the mothership was eventful and rewarding! Gleepglop and Mortlezoop were pleased with the vital information I brought back at the end of the evening! Jesus, my head is white. Apologies to your camera.).

We should have meetups at 2112 all the time! It's great, isn't it?

But the whole point of meeting in the lounge was that we didn't need no stinking reservation. (And hey, the Mars Ride!)

I can vouch, as one half of "trouble," that Dame was in fact not constantly eating popcorn the whole night.

I believe at one point she had a hot dog.

The 2112 bar was surprisingly cool, yes--I'd go again. Not for the food, mind you--while untested it didn't seem to be a great selection or price set--but the atmosphere was great and the drinks weren't awful.

Thanks to everyone who chatted with the relative newcomer, including folks I had not previously met (milovoo, Smart_Dalek, Karmakaze) and those I hadn't really talked to at my first meetup (chicobangs, caitlinb, Stynxno). I will definitely be attending the next meetup :D

taz, that's me! I occasionally enjoy making silly/stupid/WTF?!?! faces when people take pictures of me, blissfully ignoring the fact that these days most photos taken at Internet nerd gatherings end up on, horror of horrors, the Internet.

Also, that picture (and another one by milovoo too) makes my hair look even worse than it really does right now. Gah.

Paris, I totally understand. Attendance isn't exactly mandatory at these things, and they do seem to be happening at a fairly regular clip these days. So you'll get your shot.

(Maybe we-all can hit a more cultured lounge next time. It doesn't always have to be sawdust on the floors, someone's knee in your drink and bathroom doors that don't close, charming as those joints can be.)


Enjoy your sabbatical. Seriously. I for one will be here, flamethrower at the ready, asbestos suit repaired and enhanced, upon your return. (Now don't you go off and vote or anything, okay, big fella?)
