Metafilter.com without the www won't load for me. October 9, 2004 9:24 AM   Subscribe

http://metafilter.com times out for me, while http://www.metafilter.com works with no problem. Is it me or MetaFilter?

both work fine, although apparently the voting cookie can't tell they are the same domain.

I'm getting "Connection Failure" when I try to load www.metafilter.com or metafilter.com on not-logged-in browsers.

Technically, the DNS RFC says that if metafilter.com doesn't resolve, DNS is set up correctly. Or so I'm told. It's too long for me to read it.

Of course, nobody likes it that way so everyone ignores it.

Name servers treat metafilter.com and www.metafilter.com like separate domains, so the most likely explanation would be a problem there, rather than one on your end, willnot.

Both are resolving for me here.

MiG is right. I deleted cookies on one of my machines, and now I can't get to metafilter.com www.metafilter.com or metatalk.metafilter.com. I get a "Connection Failure" message.

For some reason, if you aren't logged in, you can't read MeFi right now.

Oh man I just tried that. Yeah, connection failure on a non-logged in machine. wtf?

del.icio.us is out, too. CONSPIRACY!!!

(recklessly chews enough gum to make a hat out of the wrappers)

But seriously, both are out. Anyone know the what what?

Well this is strange, I am able to bring up Askmefi, but not metatalk or regular ol mefi on an unlogged in machine.
