What's up with the extra slash in the Metafilter URL?

Anybody else noticing an extra trailing slash after http://metafilter.com? Only happens if you leave off the preceeding www's. Not a big deal, everything works fine, but it's a bit strange. Looks like url-rewwriting gone amuk?

Also, is it just me, or can nobody else create a link in the post? Ctrl-shift-A didn't work, and adding tags manually truncated the link...

I've noticed it using http://www.metafilter.com as well.

I thought it was some wacky Mozilla rendering bug and ignored it since everything still works.
