There is nothing better than drinking in School. Portlanders, Oregonians, Northwest aficionados and random travellers, come join us to remember our youth as we raise a glass in school. This Saturday, March 5th, at 7 pm we gather in the Courtyard Restaurant of the Kennedy School. Just look for the "here, thar be dorks" sign.

Time: 7pm-?
Date: Saturday, March 5th
Location: Kennedy School, 5736 N.E. 33rd Ave., Portland, OR 97211

The restaurant is all ages and smoke-free. Leave a note if you think you're coming so we can save enough seats. If you are in need of a ride locally, drop me a line and I can maybe pick you up.

For folks taking Tri-Met, you can take the 10 to 33rd & Jarrett.

I doubt they take reservations, but most places appreciate a heads up for large parties. Do we think it's necessary to get a rough count and then call them?

And seriously, how will we recognize each other. I mean, aside from the pocket protectors and Coke bottle glasses.

Oh..I'd have loved to be there...but I have another engagement. Darn it!
Hmm...maybe I can stop by for a little bit. Yah...I think I will. See you all there!

If I wasn't just about to give birth, I'd see you there. Maybe another one this summer?

I figured we could all just wear our "I am [not] Matt Haughey" buttons. That is except for Matt of course.

These buttons, they vibrate?

I'll only be able to drop in earlier in the evening, so don't be fashionably late.

lisa g: speedy delivery!

Google Maps. I'm pretty sure I'll be there.

Well, I have the required yellow clothing (yellow is in this year, see Cate Blanchett at the Oscars, Olivia Newton-John and Delta Goodrem) but I am all out of pocket protectors and I would rather sit home and sulk than go out in public unfashionably attired. So have fun without me.
Please post pictures!

Hmmm. Methinks I see a problem.

Yeah monju, I wouldn't take I-205 from I-84 to get to the Kennedy School either.

I keed, I keed.

far out. we'll be thinking of you up north. of course, we're going to start drinking earlier, too.

"here, thar be dorks"

There is no such thing as a surplus of image-capturing devices at a MeFi meetup.

eenteresting... *strokes imaginary beard*

i'll try to make it to this.

all-righty, then.

I'll be there. I'll make a table tent sign or something.

"MetaFilter: We're all drinking this together."

Well, Kennedy School doesn't have wifi so the iSight may not be needed. Anyone with actual computer skills have a different idea?
posted by ..ooOOoo....ooOOoo.. at 3:52 PM on March 4, 2005

Can't have everything. I suppose enough digital cameras will be in evidence. We can figure out somewhere else to meet the next time that'll meet all of our requirements.

Hey Portland! What happened?? I couldn't find you anywhere in school!?!? We looked high and low, in detention and in the honors bar and of course the main restaurant... where were you? Are we going to have to have another meet up so I can meet you all??
posted by limitedpie at 9:31 PM on March 5, 2005

Oh nooooo!

We almost didn't find anyone either. We were about to leave when we spotted Matt and the gang coming into the restaurant.

Next time we need a specific spot to meet!

I hope you make it--we had a great time.
posted by frykitty at 9:47 PM on March 5, 2005

Yeah, we'll have to have another one soon! I -really- enjoyed meeting everyone.
posted by SpecialK at 10:10 PM on March 5, 2005

Some crappy low-light photos here.

It was hard to find folks. It was such a large, crowded place that I would have given up looking in another five minutes if SpecialK hadn't found us.

Some crappy better-lit photos here.

It was great to meet ya'll. Sorry you couldn't find us limitedpie, so the next one should be sooner rather than later.
posted by turbodog at 10:12 AM on March 6, 2005

as it turned out, we were seated out of the wireless coverage area at the BigTime up in Seattle, so it was dark both ways up and down I-5 last night. We did think of you, though!
posted by mwhybark at 11:38 AM on March 6, 2005

My only problem with having one later this month is that we're competing with (in sequence)
- St. Patty's day
- PSU spring break

which pushes us out to the first weekend in April.

I'd be willing to plan the next one, though.
posted by SpecialK at 5:50 PM on March 6, 2005

Excellent SpecialK! Count us in!

I'm in for the next one.

Fuck, I live like five blocks away and had no idea this was even going on... Next time... Next time.
