Anonymous questions are gone? March 21, 2005 1:46 PM   Subscribe

Am I missing something, or did the anonymous-question feature on ask metafilter disappear? When? Why? I can't find any explanation on metatalk.

Recall Matt mentioning how the process is done in a past thread. Guess he may be too busy to attend to them or the daily AskMe’s posting volume is too high for them.

If & when the anonyms feature returns, do I win a prize guessing the next one from anonyms is you, Mars Saxman?

I guess nowadays you can pay $5 to be effectively anon.

A previous question on the missing anon asking was here.

Matt's busy killing AskMe threads about Van Morrison. Cut him some slack.

thomcatspike: ha, no, I knew that once I asked this I wouldn't be able to post the question for a while... it wasn't particularly urgent anyway.
milkrate: thanks for the link.
xmutex: hah.

There's enough people that want to post an Anon question, that once the feature is back up, we won't know who authored each question. Plus there are an unknown quanity of other MeFites that are waiting to post an Anon question, but haven't posted anything to that effect on MeTa.

Suggestion: If you have an important Anon question to ask, it might be worth it to pony up $5 for a sockpuppet account, so that you could supply more information inthread if required, and it doesn't matter if the Anon feature is working or not. That way, even Matt doesn't see who asked what question and it's a little donation towards MeFi.
