Great coverage of UK general election May 7, 2005 6:22 AM   Subscribe

I've really enjoyed reading and participating in the coverage the UK general election has received at MetaFilter, particularly the follow-up threads (which, in one case, might otherwise have been dismissed as news filter). Contrasting points of view expressed intelligently and with measure. Well done.

Amen. If only we could discuss American politics with such civility.

Get with the program!

MeTa is for snarking, settling scores, and suppressing posts that threaten your ideology, all under the guise of "protecting MetaFilter's traditions".

Its is not for friendly congratulatory accolades. Puh-leese.

It was ACE. The follow-ups were good AFTERS. I didn't get any AGGRO. Nobody acted BARMY. BLIMEY, it was BRILL. A good chance to CHAT UP our mates. Good CHIN-WAG. A CRACKING time. All that and a bag of CRISPS. It wasn't something to be tossed into the DUSTBIN. Not a FAFFER in the bunch. Nobody was in a right FLAP. Nobody started a HOO HA. JOLLY good. Didn't leave me KNACKERED. A right KNEES-UP. Didn't give me the LURGY. Not NAFF. Worth going ON ABOUT. Definately not total PANTS. Left me feeling PECKISH for more. Just plain PUKKA. SMASHING. Worth more than a SQUIZ. TOP. Everything was TICKETY BOO. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll put on my WELLIES.

How do you figure that, Alex, you nay-saying wretch?

Bad joke. "Sweet f.a." is a colorful way of saying "nothing" in the Queen's homeland. I blame wendell.

It means that in Germany? Wow, I never knew!

Ha! Sorry, Alex -- that occurred to me after I posted.

"Sweet f.a." is one weird phrase. It means both "Sweet Fuck All", and Sweet Fanny Adams. More on Sweet Fanny Adams here

It gets better
Good to know that people have always been so perverse in their humour.
