My question started out simply asking for advice on how to make business cards, and Fandango_Matt not only called me, he helped me design a set of professional cards. I met a future business partner the other day and he was impressed; no doubt if it weren't for Fandango_Matt's help things could have swung the other way. Thank you.
Yeah, but you have to balance this kind of thing out with the fact that when I asked him for help, Fandango Matt stole one of my pugs and refused to return it. Daddy misses you, Lolabelle...

I agree -- let's see the card. Black out the last few #s of the phone or address or whatever if you are worried about that.

Now, that last one just from looking at it just kind of doesnt look good digitally. Know what I mean? It's plain and the bolt is off slightly. That is, until you print it. Then all of a sudden it looks really catching.
He is also sending me Adobe press ready data, along with very specific information if I ever decide to really make them look good by going to an offset printing shop. I know this is a shameless plug, but I cannot imagine a better candidate for my future business.

Jeesh, the jpeg compression along with my hackneyed editing ability doesn't do them justice.

Clean, bold and eye-catching. No font montage clusterfuck, easy to print, easy to read, highly functional. Nice design. (From a fellow designer, even.)

All three cards are quite impressive - and I loved the yellow "socialist realism" one.

DEAN KEATON
New card. What do you think?
McDermott lifts it up and examines the lettering carefully.
McDERMOTT
Whoa. Very nice. Take a look.
He hands it to Van Patten.
DEAN KEATON
Picked them up from the printers yesterday.
VAN PATTEN
Good coloring.
DEAN KEATON
That's bone. And the lettering is something called
Silian Rail.
McDERMOTT
(Envious)
Silian Rail?
VAN PATTEN
It is very cool, DEAN KEATON. But that's nothing.
He pulls a card out of his wallet and slaps it on the
table.
VAN PATTEN
Look at this.
They all lean forward to inspect it.
PRICE
That's really nice.
DEAN KEATON clenches his fists beneath the table, trying to
control his anxiety.
VAN PATTEN
Eggshell with Romalian type.
(Turning to DEAN KEATON)
What do you think?
DEAN KEATON
(Barely able to breath, his voice a croak)
Nice.
PRICE
(Holding the card up to the light)
Jesus. This is really super. How'd a nitwit like you get so
tasteful?
DEAN KEATON stares at his own card and then enviously at
McDermott's.
DEAN KEATON (V.O.)
I can't believe that Price prefers McDermott's card to mine.
PRICE
But wait. You ain't seen nothin' yet.
He holds up his own card.
PRICE
Raised lettering, pale nimbus white...
DEAN KEATON
(Choking with anxiety)
Impressive. Very nice. Let's see Paul Owen's card.
Price pulls a card from an inside coat pocket and holds it
up for their inspection: "PAUL OWEN, PIERCE & PIERCE,
MERGERS AND ACQUISITIONS." DEAN KEATON swallows, speechless.
The sound in the room dies down and all we hear is a faint
heartbeat as DEAN KEATON stares at the magnificent card.
DEAN KEATON (V.O.)
Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness
of it. Oh my God, it even has a watermark...
His hand shaking, DEAN KEATON lifts up the card and stares at it
until it fills the screen.
He lets it fall. The SOUND RETURNS TO NORMAL.
CARRUTHERS Is something wrong? Patrick...you're sweating.

Im waiting for the final files to print them on good paper. For now I am using a RGB pdf file printed on super bright heavy paper at a local kinkos on a color laser. Nothing fancy... yet.
