Atlanta meetup Oct. 2005 October 26, 2005 7:38 PM   Subscribe

Just for the hell of it (or maybe because I really want to do a mefi-meetup photoshoot) let's get together, Atlanta. Y'all up for it?

I think Hand of Minos (I think that was his name?) tried to get an ATL gathering together a few months ago. Might want to try him out again.
That said, I live in the Atlanta area and might be up for some shenanigans assuming my work schedule allows it...

I live in Tucker, count me in.

I live in Auburn, AL close enough ya? Maybe if someone gave me a place to crash...

I live in Montgomery, AL and I'll be in Atlanta from the 1st of November until probably the fourth or fifth at least.

I live in Kennesaw (yeah, yeah, I know), so I'm available*.

*assuming my work and school doesn't interfere, and no one minds a 20-year-old chick hanging around

And no one minds a 20-year-old chick hanging around

Are you kidding? 20 year chicks is half the reason anyone goes to meetups.

I'd show up, schedule permitting. I live in East Atlanta. Any ideas on a location? I'll nominate 97 Estoria in Cabbagetown.

Sure.

Somewhere intown? I'm in Avondale Estates, so anything east is good for me...

If it can wait until after my wife (also a MeFite) and I get back from the UK on Nov 11, that would be most awesome.

ozomatli: Mapquest reports it 1:44 drive, so depends on how badly you need your 20-year old chick fix, though I still live with the rents (recent college grad, still looking for "real" job, blah), so I wouldn't have a place to crash.

I might even be persuaded to drive in from Augusta, work and family permitting

I'm in Decatur, and if I don't chicken out, I'll be there.

Oh I know its about an hour and a half drive, but I am lazy and was counting on imbibing a few as long as I was out in Hotlanta. I am just a country boy so big city drivin' can still give me some worries.

Huzzah! Responses! Well, folks, I specifically didn't mention a time or place just so we might be able to figure out both as part of a team effort. My personal preferences?: Somewhere in (or very near) the city with ample free parking and on a Saturday night. Since we gots us a 20 year-old chick thinking about coming, we might want to select a location that is age indiscriminate but will still provide us with the adult atmosphere in which to imbibe alcohol and discuss philosophy and shit. Ideas?

Scoo: Hey, there's gonna be a MeFi meetup in Atlanta! Wanna go?

Mrs. Scoo: *looks perturbed* I don't know if I wanna meet those freaks in person.

Scoo: Okay, now we are definitely going.

So... is there a time yet?

Hello...

Is this thing on?

OK, thread revival. Um... I was kinda hoping the Atlantans on this list might have good venue suggestions. I don't live in Atlanta, it's just my closest major city. Eh? Eh?

Here's a suggestion:

The Thinking Mans Tavern, near Decatur.

Excellent call, jpburns. It looks like the perfect place for such a gathering as this. Shall I make a new post with this set location for all to see?

Please, do.
