Philly meetup? I’m in South Jersey until about January 12th, and would love to meet up with some local (tri-state and beyond…) MeFites. Who’s game?
Hell yeah. The 8th is great for me too - I'm busy the 7th (and possibly the 6th - my birthday is the 5th, so I might be doing family stuff then).

The 8th would work for me, although I couldn't get there until about 8 pm or so (I have dinner plans earlier that evening).
Please suggest locations, also. I'm not super familiar with the bars and restaurants in Philly anymore (if I ever was). The last one was at The Standard Tap I think - how was that?

Maybe possibly. The 8th would be good if I do decide to make the trek.

Standard tap was my idea. A bit off of a beaten track. A little hard to find. I'd have done it somewhere else.
Manayunk would have been better (it's all of two blocks from the expressway, easy enough to find...great selection of bars)
The Key is a place with alcohol + a semi secluded/quieter area to talk + drink.

My vote would be for standard tap ... it's (marginally) easier for me to get to by Septic. In the alternative, Monk's is in Center City, the food is great, and the beer is world-class.

Standard Tap sounds fine - I'm limited to public transit too, so Center City locations would be best.
Unfortunately I had my formative drinking years in Newark, DE, so I'm not sure what's good around here.

kalimac, me too - did you go to UD?
I agree about "the key" filmgeek. Monk's sounds good - am I understanding correctly that it's easier for everyone to get to Monk's via public transportation and car than Standard Tap?

Hmm, would parking be impossible near Monk's with something going on at The Kimmel Center that night?

amro - yeah! 2000-2004, anthro program :)
(And thanks for the early happy birthday up there!)
Another vote for Monk's here - unfortunately, parking's always a pain in Center City. There are a bunch of garages within a few blocks, I think, so you should be able to find something.

So, Amro...it's your idea...set a date and a time! We only have a week! Happy New year!

I'm in, but I'm also underage for the tasty beverage department. Anyone know if kiddies like me are admitted?

Ooh, potch, they may card you. You may want to give them a call and see. Or maybe LilBucner knows.

Potch, you should be fine. It's a restaurant more than a bar. A wildly popular restaurant known far and wide for their extensive collection of beers from far and wide, a restaurant that uses said beers in the food the way the most people think of using wine, but a restaurant nonetheless.

Potch ... on weekend nights they card at the maitre'd station just to get a table, but Sundays are more relaxed. They may card you to get a beer, or not, depending on the server. As desuetude said, it's more a restaurant than a bar.
