projects doesn't have the usual wonderful (and i don't mean that at all) auto-format line break thing. but preview preserves html markup. so i'm kinda pissed that posting deletes the markup i added, leaving me with a lumpy squashed-together run-on paragraph thing.

Blink never ceases to be a good idea, because blink is never a good idea in the first place.
Maybe this should go in a separate thread tagged "feature requests" or ponies or whatnot, but how about disabling the blink tag? I'm entirely serious. I'm pretty sure that every holy text ever written inerrantly identifies it as an abomination of desolation.

The whole point of paragraph tags being ignored and line breaks on posts being scrapped is that I'm discouraging overuse of the vertical screen space. Keeps things compact, though MetaTalk does allow for line breaks in posts, but that was because there are fewer posts displayed on the index page.

yeah, i realised that, and i don't mind that. but i'd prefer it if there was a warning (sorry if there is and i missed it, because then i'm looking really stupid...) or they were stripped during preview too.

Another vote for bringing back the marquee tag, and another vote for removing the blink tag.

BoingBoing *ducks* used to have comments separated by alternating grey and white backgrounds. Your comment's background changed with each additional post, as it moved down the striped background. Not only would they accept colored fonts, but if you tweaked the color of your text to match the background you could make your comment disappear and reappear, or even read two totally different things with each new poster. I'm sure you'd like that Matt, huh? Huh?

put this in your userContent.css file (in the "chrome" folder within your profile folder - there likely is an example file there already named "userContent-example.css").
Opera and IE support user css as well, but you're on your own to find out how it's implemented - i.e. the names and locations of files (but the code to enter should be the same).

well, anyway, as summary above - line breaks in projects are dropped on preview, but embedded html isn't. however, embedded html is dropped on posting. so when you prepare your post with html tags so that it's nicely formated on preview, you don't get what you expect when you finally post.
