What is the purpose of flagging answers as "fantastic"? February 18, 2006 10:39 PM Subscribe
I just flagged an AskMe answer as "fantastic" for the first time, and I'm curious...and then what happens? What is the purpose of this feature?
It just shows up on this page... which is sort of not the greatest interface since you have no clue what it is the question is until you click it...
the idea, in spirit, is cool, though!

It's really there because people wanted an option that was positive (all the other flags are negative) and when I see something with a bunch of fantastic flags, it's usually something excellent that I end up posting on the sideblog.

Is there a way for us to peruse past fantasticalities?

I've always wanted to request a pony that the Recent Fantastic Posts Flags page twiggy refers to would have the actual questions and answers, and also just list each fantastic entry just once.

Yes, Fat Guy, that's what I proposed the first day I wrote that quick hack page, but I have bigger plans for showing off highly rated posts. It should be around in a week or two.

gsteff: That's current fantasticalities. I think goose meant older ones than that.

Thanks, got it.
Alvy, I thought I nailed it too! But that particular post I flagged was just spot on. That said, I really liked your:
*Sorry about the tone, but I could have written this post not too long ago. If I could travel in time, I would kick my younger self's ass far wasting so much time.
Yeah, me too :-)

I've always suspected the whole flagging thing is really just a way for mathowie to get a special secret filtered version of MetaFilter, with all of the good posts and none of the crap.
