Why is there not an initial "Please select category" null option?

MeTa category dropdown: Why is there not an initial "Please select category" null option? Because we all get excited and make oopsies.

Not to complain excessively; as I agree everyone should post responsibly. However, this seems like a proportionately easy thing to fix; the amount of work necessary for the solution fits the smallness of the problem.

Yeah, I should have done this from the start, but was too lazy at the time to program around a "no category selected, please select one" error.

Yeah, it is impossible to submit an illegal value right now, yet very easy to submit an incorrect value.

Agreed, this is especially bad if someone posts Meetup info under "bugs", because then it'll never show if someone follows the sidebar link.

And I know because I made that mistake once.

Does it matter? I'm not even sure it's possible to browse MeTa by catagory.

I'd rather see tags in MeTa.

1) new default menu option = dead easy, no code
2) new use case on the form submit = also pretty easy, but involves at least a little code - you gotta admire the simplicity of the existing setup in this regard (although if I were Matt I might make the default option 'etiquette' or whatever is actually most common).

I personally would love to have a new generation of MetaTalk posts filed under "---Please click here to select a category---"
