Self-linking on Metafilter is a no-no, post it to Projects instead. May 10, 2006 9:39 PM   Subscribe

Because I'm new here. Still learning the ropes.
Liar, liar, pants on fire.

I move a motion for swift deletion, to be followed by equally swift banning. Any seconders?

Hey, cut him some slack. It's not as if the warning was blinking. He probably just didn't see it.

Everyone makes mistakes, but why, oh why won't people take responsibility for their mistakes? milkweed should recognize that it was a $5 mistake.

Oh... the excuses we've heard! No one's ever angelic and apologetic about any other infraction besides self-linking.

"Oh! You mean to say... that's not allowed? Well, land sakes! Hush my mouth and fuck me running. I do declare I stand corrected. But surely, my completely unintentional misstep need not render consequences, now, need it? Come on. Don't be a bunch of dicks about it."

Banning someone is a feature request? Or is the red on black the feature request? I like the red on black.

I like the red on black, too. It's frightening.

Can we get it so people can't post images to the front page of MetaFilter, MetaTalk, or Askme, only inside threads?
posted by dgaicun at 11:22 PM on May 10, 2006

Yeah that red on black really does it. I just loaded Metatalk and immediately thought, within half a second, oh shit what have I done.... Best warning yet.

I must ashamedly confess that it took me several minutes to figure out that I need to click on the pretty red and blue picture to see the thread in question. MeTa needs more specific directions for the stupid!

Now make the entire site red on black for a week and institute a Reign of Terror.

Someone should probably mention that Scott "Scooter" Connerly of Improvabilities just deliberately shat on the clearest and most important community guideline at a popular online discussion site. Apparently, Scott "Scooter" Connerly of Improvabilities is so selfish he cared more about sending a temporary traffic spike to his improv group's site than about anything else. Nice.

Thanks for helping us make our event so special. I was amazed by your ability to take a general concept for a presidential roast and turn it into such an appropriate yet hysterical skit.

Now make the entire site red on black for a week and institute a Reign of Terror.

Now this is an idea I can stand behind. Especially if we can get Matt to go live on webcam, don his bike helmet and make that "Oh, fuck you!" screwy-face every time he swings the banhammer.
posted by loquacious at 2:17 PM on May 11, 2006

That might help.

Oh well, hopefully this means their lame improve won't be linked here again. Heh.
posted by delmoi at 9:43 PM on May 11, 2006

For what it's worth, gleuschk, there's a clear difference between google-bombing that simply states what happened and google-bombing that makes shit up. I grown to think the google-bombing that makes shit up is wrong, but the google-bombing that states what happened isn't.
posted by mediareport at 10:09 PM on May 11, 2006

posting one comment in a MeTaThread isn't really bombing.
