What the hell kind of world is it when saying you love somebody is 'spooky'?

Answering my own question, it's the kind of world where some Japanese guy who takes photos of his pet bunny with pancakes on its head alters the reality of thousands of people around the planet.
Is the pony dancing with a man, under a traffic signal, kind of like in that one David Lynch show? posted by insomnyuk at 7:11 AM on January 2, 2002

Now if only that pancake-headed bunny were lapping up some ice cream in front of the Baby Jesus on a pony...we'd HAVE IT ALL... posted by metrocake at 8:43 AM on January 2, 2002
was anyone watching the letterman show last night? they had a rabbit on stupid pet tricks, and its owner was able to "make it sleepy" by telling it "aren't you a sleepy guy, are you getting sleepy?" as she spoke, the rabbit slowly leaned backwards until it was completely laid backwards.
now imagine if we'd had a pancake on its stomach. posted by moz at 8:50 AM on January 2, 2002
Why does the image url point to junk.metafilter.com?
Matt linked to it on the sidebar (something about a mascot???) posted by xiffix at 9:23 AM on January 2, 2002
this would be a good book-mark icon for meta-cakes. posted by clavdivs at 9:48 AM on January 2, 2002

ascii boobies may seem funny to you, geoff, but to those of us with ABS (ascii booby syndrome), it's not a laughing matter... posted by jpoulos at 10:15 AM on January 2, 2002

Has anyone else found themselves just staring at the little bouncing bunny for minutes on end? I'm....mesmerized. posted by jpoulos at 10:29 AM on January 2, 2002
Are you guys sure that's a pancake and not a cheese pizza? posted by chipr at 10:30 AM on January 2, 2002
C'mon people, "rabbit rabbit" is for the first day of the month. posted by kindall at 2:29 PM on January 2, 2002
Hey cool, Oliver!
You know if you watch that long enough, not only do both Matt and Oolong begin speaking to you in dead languages, but every 45 minutes or so, they beat the crap out of each other, before hugging and briefly switching burdens.
Beats TV any day. posted by Kafkaesque at 2:31 PM on January 2, 2002
Swiss animals prefer rösti, the local potato pancakes (recipe in an entertaining google translation - rösti, apparently, are "the florets of greedy Switzerland"; be sure to cook the potatos in "ebullient water"). posted by liam at 4:56 PM on January 2, 2002

ahahahahaaaaaaaaa. oliver, that effing rules. i showed it to my mom just now and she was all "uh... that's weird." but this was after i tried to explain to her about pancakes and ponies and ice cream day.
i guess you uh, just had to be there. posted by sugarfish at 6:38 PM on January 2, 2002
Sugarfish: I just tried to do the same thing--i.e. explain to my fiancee the history and relevance of this mini-meme, starting with the pic of Matt holding the laptop, moving to Oolong the Flapjackrabbit, to pancakes in general, to the new .gifs... She wandered off somewhere around pancakes, and I haven't seen her since. posted by arco at 9:03 PM on January 2, 2002
Its cute, but am I the only one that thinks that part of its brain had to be removed so that it (he/she?) would never notice the pancake on its head? posted by skallas at 10:35 PM on January 2, 2002
Kafkaesque, that's not a joke. I'm a bit creeped out that this rabbit is perpetually doing the same thing when it should be shaking the pancake off its head. Yeah, its probably just me. Enjoy the show. posted by skallas at 11:06 PM on January 2, 2002
Heh. Sorry skallas. Thought you were joking there.
Actually if you look at the guy's site he says how he has a great relationship with Oolong and has trained it to do the "head-art". posted by Kafkaesque at 11:10 PM on January 2, 2002
With that pancake on its head, our bunny needs supplemental ears. posted by Carol Anne at 5:10 AM on January 3, 2002
