lookin for chicago victim of verisign domain hijacking April 30, 2002 8:28 AM Subscribe
Regarding the whole VeriSign domain hijacking debacle, I've interested a reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times in doing a story on the problem. However, he needs a Chicago connection -- anyone know of a victim in Chicago/northern Illinois?
Hey, great work, me3dia! Perhaps the idea of setting up a weblog about domain-stealing should be fast-tracked in time for the story.

Leslie Harpold may have a Chicago connection of some sort.. I'd contact her directly.

What kind of connection does he need? I live in Chicago and have received those Verisign notices for two of my domain names.

Well, it's not just the VeriSign notices, it's outright fraudulent transfer of the domain. However, if you're willing to talk with the reporter (which may be me, if he's not interested), let me know and I'll get you in touch.
So far, I've gotten one lead -- Molly of girlwonder.com owns along.com, and there's someone in Hong Kong who has repeatedly tried to take it. So far she's been successful in protecting it, but with VeriSign asleep at the wheel, who know what'll happen.
