Great presentation, Evan. I mean the cast, not the lousy web pages. ;) What an interesting, unlikely looking bunch of people. Though I naturally symphatize with ?. No two are alike. Everyone looks like they give good talk. There's community weblog for you. MetaFilter brought them together; let MetaFilter sunder them apart...

The ? in this photo is Nick Denton (former CEO of Moreover.com and all-around great guy). His site is nickdenton.org but I can't find a metafilter username anywhere.

The ? in this shot is the lovely and charming nstop.

This shot could be titled "jonmc in paradise"; I've got a beer in my hand, a cigarrette in my mouth, a pretty lady next to me and I'm surrounded by mefite's. As the guys in the Old Milwaukee ads said, it don't get any better than this...

The group shot came out really well. jonmc: thanks for the ID. Might as well ID the iPods, too, since there are still more pics of those: the left is mine (Bowie, David / Boyracer / Breeders / Brittle Stars / Buffy the Vampire Slayer / Butterglory) ; nicwolff's is on the right.

And you all have fabulous taste in music (those of you with whom I talked on that topic).

Well...I dunno. But not like that.

It's strange how you (well, maybe not you - perhaps it's just me) make little mental portraits of the folks whose words you're reading. For example, I always pictured Miguel as Kevin Spacey in 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil' before I saw that damn press photo (which reminds me - my mefiswap cd's are done).

For some reason, I always pictured you (jonmc) as looking like (embarrassed cough) John Cusack..

Jack & Coke for me. Was going to break up the whiskey intake with a nice refreshing *Pimm's Cup* but it never happened.

Moz, you insensitive bastard. People have made fun of my glowing red eyes for years. You just *had* to pour salt on the wound....

I drank several waters, some tap, some fizzing. One with lime. Then I had a pint of Guiness, which I didn't finish (I'm not much of an alcohol drinker). I did buy a beer earlier in the evening, but it was to replace 10sball's, which I spilled all over the place, including on my pants. To paraphrase one of the MST3K 'bots, I was gonna smell like beer sooner or later. Good thing there were plenty of those Camworld t-shirts to mop up with. They're surprisingly absorbent!

Good pics - I'm not in any pics, but then, I came late and stayed for only about an hour (If anyone gets pics with a person in a tan suede fedora, that's me). I didn't get to meet most people, but I enjoyed it for a first Mefi party. As for my drinks, I had a shot of Irish whiskey and a Guiness (separately). I need to go for cheaper booze.

Lately I've been a jack and coke drinker... but I figured it was probably going to be a long evening and I eventually wanted to be able to make it home. So, I too spent the night downing brooklyns.

(why didn't anyone tell me crack was acceptable among you people... i left mine at home was seriously jonesin towards the end of the night)

oh, and actually, I'm in this picture, too.. but you can just see my shirt. Which I've already been ridiculed for wearing by various people. Too 'stripey' they say.

Nice work, Evan. You'll be getting an invoice from my agent, as my image is licensed in 18 countries, including the US. The merchandising is just now revving up; we'll start with Nickels' Own salad dressing and be at full-window automobile decals by next December.

Jonmc and me standing next to eachother would be enough to scare off anyone. I just should have worn my t-shirt and flannel, and then we could have cranked up some Iron Madien and head-banged for everyone.

RealJanetKagan's books is kick-ass. I'm reading it on my commute and wishing my trip was longer so I could read more, but wishing it was shorter so I wouldn't reach the end so fast.
