Formatting Buttons Missing May 19, 2002 4:51 PM   Subscribe

Hey - is it a bug, my browser, or a glitch: where's the formatting button, ie, BOLD-italic - for Mefi posts? (Win98SE, NS6.2)

It's the browser, dash slot, I use NS6.2 as well, cos for some reason IE5.5 gives me a Cold Fusion error. 'sall good though. I finally learned some of the more esoteric html tags out of necessity.

the functions don't work in Netscape 6, because there is a standing form selection bug in mozilla that hasn't been patched in two years.

Sadly that Mozilla bug is the most embarassing thing in open source. It's a great browser apart from that though.

Do you happen to have the bug # handy? I'd love to track it and perhaps make a little noise.

10sball:
I have reported it to Netscape, quoting my original query and the replies from jonmc (nice blog, jon) and matt. If they see its pointed out here it may influence the next release (i agree with ned - IE5 started crashing, so i went back to my first love. It is good, and fast apart from all the registration bollox)

Just looking into this a bit more... I had to switch over to my pc to see those buttons... i didn't even know they existed before this thread (don't see them in IE/Mac either).

In any case, I did some searching and uncovered Bug 88049, and its companion Bug 85686. Its all right there out in the open to track or "vote" for if you're so inclined (as I seem to be for some yet undiscovered reason). Looks like some recent work has been done, but I have no hope of it making it into the 'next release', which seems to be right around the corner.

thanks 10sball, of course that's the best thing about it that we can see whats being done (or not as the case may be) and bitch about it on online forums. And yeah 1.0 has to be before the next mozilla.party in early June.
