Does Ask MetaFilter have an RSS feed? December 10, 2003 5:28 PM Subscribe
Ask is very cool - but where's the RSS?
Also agree this is cool. But why is there no link on the Front page and Meta page top nav bar?

RSS? Never heard of it.
There's a link on the nav bar of MetaTalk. I'll work it into MetaFilter more when the development is farther along.

What is RSS? Here's an example file.

Fine here. I put it in the header of the page for auto-discovery as well.

Good choice of the URL mathowie, that was my first guess earlier :-) Thanks.

No kidding. This is the most exciting thing I've seen on Metafilter in quite some time. It's got the communal feeling of the off-topic conversations of MetaTalk, except with actual purposes!

Ask is indeed fantastic. It's a great problem-solver and the idea is so good people are asking and responding away with exactly the right spirit. No chat, no jokes, no acrimony. Just sharing. Beautiful, in fact. You know something's good when all you hope for is that it doesn't change. Thanks Matt!

Which of course, means it's eventually going to change, once it gets old enough to develop its own chat, in-jokes and acrimony.
On the plus side, once that happens, I finally get something to bitch about having been better in the good old days.

I'm doing my best to stop it, having deleted a couple dozen jokey comments and half a dozen dumb questions since it launched. It's successful because of the lack of jokey crap, and when I redo the site soon, I will make it very clear that any comments should be answers to someone's question, and little else.

Good idea, Matt. Normally I'm a fan of the notion that injokes, etc., promote community cohesion, but in this case AxMe already has a community attached.
Is there some way to view the deleted questions? I assume you're eventually coming out with guidelines as to what is/isn't a good question for AxMe, but in the meantime it might be nice to have some idea of what you consider an outright waste of time. F'rinstance, I've been thinking of posting a question that was more or less 80% answered by a couple of earlier ones, but thought being more specific might ferret out that other 20%--is something like the Blue's double post rule in effect?
