Seattleites:
Ok, there will (hopefully) be a meeting of MeFi-ers on Saturday May 12th at 3pm at the Speakeasy cafe. If you think you will be appearing, please drop a comment into this thread so that we can encourage each other to show up.
If you are a non-Seattleite (i.e. a Liverpudlian) and would like to discuss other regional gatherings, perhaps post to this earlier thread.

This is the first I've heard of this get-together. Maybe I should look at MetaTalk more often. I will definitely try my best to make it, sounds interesting.

Oooo, cool. I will do my best to be there; I won't have a rehearsal that night for a change. At the very least, for the amusing introductions. ("Hi, gluechunk. I'm kokogiak." Only the web could produce this sort of dialogue.)

It's times like that I can be glad I lacked originality in choosing my name as did (thankfully) my parents.

I'll be there. Marvelous lucky choice of dates!
I don't think anybody will have any trouble spotting me...
...but it would be nice to have a pile of "Hello, my name is" stickers handy. Yeah, they're tacky, but they're also really damned useful when you get a crowd of never-previously-introduced 'netters together.

Yeah, I think we should use that pic for all our nametags.

I'll be there but, lest I be accused of false advertising, I'm not very shiny.

If you haven't already, King county residents taxes are due today. Your earthquake delay is over.

Welp, looks like the folks will be in town that weekend, so I'm now a no-go. They're new grandparents, and must see that little one, you know. Have fun, take pictures, etc.

I'm still going to try and make it down. Might bring my lady with me as well, just to scare her.

I'll be there. Due to problems with my printer I won't be sporting the cool nametag. If you see anyone that looks like this and answers to "John," it could be me.

Kudos to gluechunk for setting it up. I enjoyed meeting y'all very much! It was fun putting faces to some of the names here and hearing real voices in place of the ones we imagine.

Indeed. So the question is when Shinybeast will have those photos developed?
We should have got some video of the juggling action you performed, shiny. Oh well, next time it'll have to be flaming torches.
As you can imagine the conversation bandied about. Occasionally someone would bring a certain topic up and we would gently remind them that it really belongs in the Metatalk meeting. Unfortunately we could not determine if any of us were doublepostguy.
It reamins a MetaMystery.

Yes,
I really need to resolve to hit the spell check button. But as mentioned in the meeting. Sometimes you just forced yourself to hit that post button all logic and care be damned.

What is this word "developed"? It smells of chemicals. I thought the Beast's camera was digital.

You, got me there kindall. Though I must admit that I didn't take a close look at it. I was too worried about it stealing my soul and all.

I don't worry about cameras stealing my soul. It's the camera that should be worried about getting its lens broken by attempting to capture my image.

Ah, no problem. I was making room for more Guiness at the time. $2.50 a pop is quite a treat when I'm used to $5 at most Chicago bars.

I'm sure we'll (collectively) come up with someplace, kindall. There's a little sidewalk cafe down on Broadway...but the name escapes me at the moment...that has seriously good coffee.
