Highlights of last night's NYC meetup.

You can't really see it, but in my shoutout to Wisconsin (plus umlaut), in small text, it says "Fuck Minnesota." I just wanted to mention that.

I had a very fine time with you folks, and I hope I can make another get-together before Liz and I leave the hellhole of Yonkers for Wisconsin's greener pastures.

Yes, dame's ass is quite lovely, but no love for our wonderful gesture.

Also, me and Cunning Linguist made a great shoutout to my man Divine Wino, but it's up to her candy ass phonecam how it comes out. But we were thinking of you, dude.

But jon, I put my love in my photo comment! Is that not enough for you? Will anything ever be enough?!

(No seriously: big *mwah!* to you boys for Most. Flattering. Shoutout. EVAR!)

And I was just starting to be able to sleep through the night again. Oh, well. Here come the night-terrors.

CC, you brought that upon yourself, remember?

For the uninitiated, after seeing this shoutout to stav, he complained that nobody but his father in law ever gave him a shoutout from the crapper. So I obliged him. That's a freind, dude.

Ah, sweet shithouse memories. Thanks, man.

That' can't be jonmc in that picture. He's not wearing flannel. Pod people are allowed at meetups now?

cyrano, it was over 90 in NYC. Even I'm not that comitted. I am wearing my beloved Who t-shirt, though.

Wow, meetup are getting really friendly, huh?

I was totally wearing my [this is good] t-shirt, but due to certain things, I couldn't make it. Wish I had, looks like you had fun!

Shirley there's a way to embed an array of leds in someone's panties, knickers, undergarments, or unmentionables so that we can have moving, blinking, shining, glowing shoutouts on the booty-cam, complete with working marquee and blink tags.

And when there were no messages, it could just display a big red dot moving back and forth like a Cylon eye. 'Cuz what's sexier than having a robot eye up yer bum?

Whaddaya call a man with no arms, no legs, and a hundred rabbits up his bum? Warren!

Fair enough, jonmc. I'm sure it would be pretty easy to trip up a pod-jonmc with some music questions anyway.

"This Ramone you speak of. This is a fried noodle, yes?"

(At which point we tape a flamethrower to a machine gun and go hunting through the sewers for the real jonmc all Sigourney Weaver in "Aliens" style. Which would probably make for some good meetup pics.)

awww, I was just getting back into town at 9 or so and was way too tired. It was gonna be my first meetup.

Somehow I always hear about these things too late.

I love being thought of, I would have swung out there but I was on a plane back from New Orleans, I did deviate from my normal pattern of drinking water and hoping I don't die on the flight and got fairly drunk both before and during the flight, just to switch things up. I sat next to this couple who were reading self-published Kabbalah books and having the same fight every three minutes, and I desperatly wanted to flag them and move on. Instead I muttered to myself and listened to Slayer, whilst drinking cans of lager. So I kinda had my own little meetup right there, which was nice.

I'm going to the next one and I going to shoutout every single metafilter user, by writing their names in huge loopy girl handwriting on my giant boxer shorts with a sharpie. Someone run me off a quick csv of all users from the database.

Divine Wino, my candy-ass phone completely failed to make any sense of your shoutout, sorry. Then again, it was terrifically late and Jon was probably holding it crooked or something, so I say we blame him.
posted by CunningLinguist at 1:15 PM on June 28, 2005

Just the notion that two people who I have never met in real life were fumbling around with camera phones and ill-spelt napkin missives on my account is enough for me, thanks. It is clearly Mcnallys fault however.

And I totally know about the candy ass camera phone problem, if I ever get the chance to photograph some unique phenomenon
or news event of the century, it had better be about two feet away and no more complicated in light refraction than my black and white cat.

I wasn't holding it crooked. The rest of these bastards tilted the room on me.
