Is something in the posting code deliberately down-casing all the text in a link? In this thread there were two attempts to post a NYT link which included upper case letters and both failed, so the link was posted directly as text to be cut and pasted.

I still want to know how you get New York Times out of Washington Post and, too, it led to another thread straight down the toilet--another candidate for post-haste yanking, sez me...

Did the fix do anything to the line spacing? MeFi just ate all my paragraph breaks in this thread.

cold fusion's HTMLEditFormat() function evidently strips all the crlf's, so i had to replace it w/ a custom filterText() function

y2-- NY Times and Washington Post are owned by the same company, and distribute some of their stories (or actually write-ups about their stories) through AP, which the Washington Post uses on its website. At least I think so.

Actually, chaz, off topic but I believe that NYT and WPO (Wash Post Co) are totally separate, publicly traded companies. But the Times company does own the Boston Globe, which is what you might have been thinking of.

futher to this, i think the tag balancing code might be stripping whitespace from attributes?

BT is correct. But the NYT has the New York Times News Service and the Post has the Los Angeles Times-Washington Post News Service, which will carry selected content from their respective dailies. These may then appear in the other paper.

But in this case, the story was by Post writers, as the byline made clear.
