Bad day for double posts. I mean, I know the threads each has slightly different takes but were so many really needed?
Thanks for posting this, lagado. Even if the threads each started out with slightly different angles, they all eventually covered the same territory. I think dh's thread alone could have contained the topic well. As it stands, the discussion has been fractured and diluted somewhat, imo. If a person has a strong point to make, they must decide which thread to post it to, or post to them all and risk looking a bit foolish (besides wasting time).

I think the lesson is, once again, to make sure that your post communicates the essence of the link. It's fun to be linguistically arch, but that often means the audience for the link completely misses it, because they didn't get it.
