Change double hyphen to dash.

Feel free to put me in my place if this is way too trivial an issue, but I've been posting more recently and can't help but notice the little tip below the posting box, and—I know this is trivial, sorry—can we replace the two hyphens with a dash? kthx.

Projects Bug

My RSS reader fails to parse the Projects feed, probably due to unencoded ampersands in this post.

HTML Markup in AskMe

When creating an ordered list (and possibly a bulleted list) for an AxeMe question, it shows up in the preview in Times New Roman. It appears fine when posted.

Releasing MeFi Code

From the wiki: "MetaFilter runs on a ColdFusion engine written by MattHaughey. The source isn't available although he is thinking of GPLing it in July 2003."

I don't remember any discussion of releasing the MetaFilter code. Is it still under consideration?

"Pre" Tags

HTML "Pre" Tag Pony. Entering Computer Code in AskMetafilter is hard. I've tried to use the "pre" tag, and just putting the code in, but the MeFi Comments Post Processor insists on putting "br" tags on the end of each line. This results in double spaced code. Is it possible for the Comments Post Processor to not generate "br" tags if inside a "pre" tag block.

Bad Markup

Goofy, wrong or misused HTML breaks the style sheet and ruins the appearance of the rest of a thread. I don't know if this is an IE/Mac only experience, but in any case it really makes reading the rest of a thread difficult, which stinks when the topic is interesting. I may be asking for an elephant gun to kill an ant, but is there some way to alert people when they've got misformed markup in their post?

Weird Code in Comments

It may be just me, but in just the last couple of days I'm finding that my comments are being auto-appended with extra &ltp>, resulting in a few lines of blank space after my comments but before the comment footer. At first I figured it was just me being careless with extra &ltp> tags lying around in my post, but it's happening every time and this test post exhibited the same behavior. In the second paragraph, I typed the line and inserted no paragraph or br tags, and didn't even hit return to start a new line- yet after hitting "Post" there are extra &ltp> tags in the HTML after posting. Thoughts?

Problems with Links

I can never include a link in my comments. I go through the motions and the appropriate window appears but then, when I preview or post the comment, it either comes out as gobbledygook or disappears.
Why is this? Subliminally it also makes me post more than I would feel like - because URL links are so effectively rendered when you post one to the front-page- so this is a real problem.
What can the matter be?

Opening MeFi development?

Matt: I admittedly don't know much about the development process you use for Meta*, whether it's all you (which is the impression that I get) but have you ever considered opening it up?
