Making more room for nuanced discussion
I love Metafilter, especially the threads where we can come together as a community and share information, learn together, and come up with new ideas. But there’s been a really frustrating trend in some recent threads. [more inside]
Why aren't we doing this topic well?
Jessamyn: [Folks we're sort of done with the "what crayz thinks about this post" angle. Please email crayz directly if you want more of crayz's opinions, otherwise this is getting to the "Take it to MeTa" point. MeTa needs to catch its breath
MetaTalk of late has been living as accelerated an existence as the Mothership has. With complaints, controversies and crises coming in every few hours, it increasingly seems to me that MeTa needs to catch its breath. More inside.
Link people v Discussion people
I think there's evidence of a real divide among mefi users, between people who like the links and people who like the discussion. And I think a possible solution is right in front of our faces.
