When I comment on Ask MetaFilter , I do the best I can to give helpful advice to the poster, but my comments hardly ever attract many favourites and are almost never selected as best answer or endorsed by other posters. What do I have to do to get more favourites and best answers?

I unfortunately am aware of the academic research around "likes" and the equivalent. But, metafilter favourites carry more weight with me, even than family likes on facebook, because you guys (apart from H00py, and the tenth anniversary 3 monkeys people) don't know me or owe me. 1. Go to music.metafilter.com
2. Check sidebars
3. One will list "Most Favorited Tracks from your contacts"
4. Some of these songs won't be Jingle Rock Bell (but luckily some will)
5. Punch 'Em In The Dick!
6. (Er, by which I mean "please comment, favourite or just enjoy listening to the best of MeFi Music")

I know there have been different scripts floating around, and I guess there's been more than one Meta about this (and at least a few comments); not sure if those solutions still good to go. (Or how to use them, or what they even are, exactly. Not that I particularly need to know precisely what's under the hood, but yeah, just what are they? Roughly.) I'd really like to be able to impose some kind of order onto my favourites, so I can find things (vs browsing through them, or hoping I remember a detail or word pairing vivid and unique enough to pop up in a Google site search). Super curious how people do it! (Sorry if this is old hat for everyone.)

In mobile styles, can a link to "add a favourite" be included at the top of the page that comes when you accidentally click on the comment count in mobile, rather than the + sign? I keep going to the list of people who have favourited a comment, then having to go back and zoom in to correctly hit the +, and my stubby fingers have put me in a loop at times. Possibly this is just me, but a line at the top of the (http://​www.metafilter.com​/favorited) page that I could reliably hit would be very nice.

Ello. Under 'http://www.metafilter.com/​home/​myfavorites' the last 30 things I favourited are shown. This is lovely, but I was wondering is it possible to have 'x comments since you last looked' show up in brackets on the recent favourites page as well? Basically the same view as the current main Mefi pages presents? [more inside]

Although favourites are certainly a nice feature for a lot of things, I worry that there's a tendency for them to water down more nuanced discussions. As a way to preempt this, perhaps people who make posts could have the option to disallow favouriting of comments on that post? [more inside]

I have two random thoughts about the inner workings of metafilter, that I would be curious to know the answer to: 1. Has anyone looked at if there is a "critical mass" of "favourites." I.E. at what point does having a certain number favourites result other people seeing the comment, clicking it and favouriting it? 2. How many hits on overage will a FPP link cause for a target site?

What are the most favorited comments on metafilter? I found the faq link to the last 24 hours' worth of favorited comments, but I wonder about the all-time greatest bon mots, putdowns and general jocularity. Thanks!
