I notice that a few posts have been deleted already today (and yesterday there were seven!), so I was wondering if the mods have any stories about days where they had to delete an extreme number of posts from the blue?

I'd like to know the reasoning behind keeping some posts up while deleting others, especially as it pertains to these particular threads.

I have sent a query to admin, but to help me get a better idea of what the MeFi community (overall) thinks, and the perspective they come from, I'm looking for feedback and discussion about why my
FPP was deleted. I'm looking for reasons why, not simple statements of objection. I'm not looking to respond or debate with anyone. Unless a technical question is asked of me, I probably won't respond. I would sincerely just like to read and take or leave what I find. Thank you.

The Mitchell Report is a big deal (if you care about baseball or American sports, anyway). We should have a post about it that, y'know, links to it, or at least some substantive analysis of it, not a
post that links to one guy's stats and a 100-word "article" that refers to things it's rumored to contain, followed by an unattributed list of names.

My
FPP was deleted (not complaining; I agree with the reasoning). Aren't I supposed to get an email about this? I didn't. Forgive me if that's not the policy. I thought it was.

Why was the Stan Tookie Williams interview with Amy Goodman deleted? Flamebait?

Downright rude.
Why was my thread on 03/12/05 on George Best's funeral deleted? If you're deleting threads then explain to the poster. I know Meta is primarily US-based but you have no idea who George Best represented. I'm really livid.

This post was deleted for the following reason: crazy speculation with a source, but no support for crackpot theory.
Okay, we have many crackpot theories to grace the front page, and a good number in recent history have made it without oodles of support. The discussion was good and mostly civil, and honestly, this criteria seems a tish subjective.
Not much of a MeFi gadfly here, but just sayin'.

This thread sucks. The link doesn't jump down to the story, the subject matter isn't very funny or interesting, it's just stupid. The post is too long, the comments are pretty pointless. I would delete it, but it could create more trouble than it is worth. What should be done about sub-par links? Anything? Take the good with the bad?
