Make that in triplicate!

Religious issues aside, do we really need three separate posts covering slight variations of the same thing? [more inside]

Fundamentalist Metafilterism

Fundamentalist Metafilterism? A few days ago, I had a post deleted. I'm actually not complaining about that (hey! don't jump on me! I'm not! read this before yelling at me!), but that, combined with the belovedness of this post, made a question form in my head. [more inside]

Religious / Political Threads Largely Repetitive

MetaFilter discussions about religion and politics tend to have comments which are basically the same as other MetaFilter discussions about religion and politics.

It may be time for someone to get his own blog.

Not necessarily a callout, because I always find myself reading the religion posts even when I don't agree with them, but as doctor_negative points out in brownpau's latest thread it may be time for someone to get his own blog.

Should a religous dietary question open the debate about theology?

When someone posts a serious question to AskMe in order to help properly observe a religious food law, do you:

(a) Answer the question, or
(b) Attempt to engage in theological debate about their religion?

Why was the god question deleted?

What was wrong with the godly feeling thread that was on Ask Mefi? As an atheist, I thought the discussion, for the most part, was civilized and was more about people trying to come to terms with a certain consciousness. That an innocuous thread asking others to elucidate about an indescribable feeling, rather than inviting obdurate fundamentalism, is a pity. I thought Ask MeFi was about disseminating answers and people inferring their own individual understandings from the results. Explain.

My post asking for advice on cults was deleted. Is there a good site where I could get advice?

I posted something on Mefi that was apparently inappropriate (OK, thinking back on it, it wasn't a good idea): a request for advice about a family member becoming part of an orthodox religious "cult" like organization. It was killed pretty quickly. Can anyone tell me a good place to ask questions like this, here on this site or somewhere similar? I was hoping for advice from the people here; after hanging around here for a few months, I'm continually impressed by the quality (and quantity) of comment posted here.
