Huzzah for Fizz!
I am calling out Fizz for being awesome. He has now posted 1405 high quality posts to MeFi, which would earn him a Big Fucking Gold Medal for most posts ever, if only such a thing actually existed. He's a lean, mean posting machine. Join me in congratulating him!
Method for tracking interesting slow-burn threads?
Most posts in the blue or green seem to be active for a day or two before contributions trail off. However some continue to grow over a much longer period (or are resurrected by a new flurry of activity). I am thinking of this Edward Snowden thread which is still going strong after a month, for example. Those who have posted to such threads can normally maintain awareness of them via "Recent Activity". Is there any way of doing so for the rest of us? If not then could this be considered as a feature? [more inside]
MetaFilter covering election day, vote counting, subsequent wrangling
Assuming any MetaFilter users are interested in writing posts or comments during voting and counting, how will this bloggie handle what will be its 4th US presidential election? [more inside]
Intra-filter trackbacks
For the big pile of stuff: How about a wikipedia-style "Mefi posts that link to this post" box on the side of each thread (that has been linked back to)? So when someone links back to a post, that old post now links forward to the new thread. Especially useful if you search and find an older thread, and would like also to read the subsequent threads which say "previously discussed on MetaFilter..." Ideally, it would pick up on comments as well as posts that link to a specific thread (not to a specific comment in the thread, though).
Are silly threads allowed now?
Has there been a slight shift in policy?
The silly personality quiz and the infamous Mushroom post are both things I would have thought would have been flagged copiously and deleted, but they remain.
I am not having a hissy fit, and am perfectly willing to skip over or add to the stillness as I see fit.
This is just seeking some clarification as to if anything different is happening and can we expect more of the same.

What have been your best and worst links posted?
A what-makes-a-good-post question I'd like to see other MetaFilter dinosaurs answer along with me: What are the best and worst links you ever inflicted on the front page?
Best posts of 2003.
Year end clearance! So, cats and kitties, what were the most memorable, most entertaining or most informative MeFi threads (in your humble opinions) of 2003?
Did I see this link here?
was I dreaming?
I thought I saw a link here a few days ago, about a bookmark that would quickly let you know, using amazon's database, whether a specific cd was put out by a member of the riaa. but when I searched for this link here, it was gone. And I didn't see it on lofi, when I looked there. Normally, I wouldn't care too much about a deleted thread, but I can't seem to find the link in question via google either. can anyone help me out?

Links do improve and furnish a comment
Links do improve and furnish a comment: When people do a little research before they comment and include a helpful or amusing link (and some users, like sheauga and madamjujujive put in almost as much work as they do in their posts), threads gain a new life and go off in all sorts of interesting directions. Sometimes deliciously and all at once. Some more threadbare posts, like the Libeskind one, are actually repaired and rehabilitated by the ensuing links. For some, linky comments may be a pain - do many actually click on them, given that a few don't even read the main links? - but I, for one, think they're dandy and would like to see more of them.
20 out of 27 posts yesterday were news pieces.
Of yesterday's 27 posts, no fewer than 20 of them were links to news sites or concerned recent events or happenings.
"Discuss..." is annoying and useless.
MetaFilterians don't need to be instructed to converse. Discuss...
Notification of new threads and comments.
Would it be possible to add a "There have been X new threads and Y new comments on MetaTalk since your last visit" to the MetaFilter page?
Are these threads really right for MetaFilter?
Is this really the venue for moments of silence and lists of condolences? Especially when posters order 'do not comment here'? We saw how well it worked in the case of the first thread.
Does a link being posted elsewhere really mean it's bad for MetaFilter?
Memepool is nothing like Slashdot. I don't read memepool. I am glad that I did not miss this post because of my surfing habits. MetaFilter can't make my experience better by expecting me to read another web site, can it?
Thoughts on a new thread-tracking feature?
Oooh, new feature idea brought to my attention by Bryan Boyer: Letting users track threads of their choosing. So you come in, see some long thread about how gas costs too much and you want to track just that thread. You'd click some link, and I'm thinking that the top of the page should say "1 new link and 4 new comments since your last visit, 3 new comments in the 4 threads you are tracking" and I suppose hyperlink to just those threads. I can display it any old way, would that be the most helpful, or should there be a new page with just your favorite threads (a "MyMetaFilter")? Would *you* use something like this? I know I would...
