What? No flameout? And you paid yer 5 bucks and everything!
"You win, Metaflter", or, "How to go from very first post in the blue to self-banning in only thirteen comments!" (give or take one or two that were deleted...) "Mission accomplished!"
A Mediaeval Self-Link.
Posted 1 hour ago by stbalbach.
As interesting as I might find the contents, technically this is a self-link. The main link is to something he himself uploaded to another site.
AskMe Etiquette
AskMe etiquette: is it OK to use AskMe answers as a lead-in for business? Someone close to me is a professional career counsellor/resume writer & I've thought of recommending they join MeFi specifically so they can join in answering job-related questions, with a thought to promoting their own services if people want more in-depth assistance. I'm absolutely NOT talking about a cookie-cutter spamish approach that purely takes advantage of the community while giving nothing in return, but real answers that help people out with an understated offer to provide something more substantial at a price. I see a lot of job- & career-related posts to AskMe & I see it as a good fit, but I'll only suggest it to them if I get a thumbs up from the hive.
Self-Linking Callout
kirkaracha might need to be reminded of the "no self-link" policy.
Self-link
Evidence
Personally, I think it's a relevant and useful link, but I don't think it should be up to the poster to make the judgment call, do you?

Accidental self link in a 9/11 thread?
Worst post ever contender
What's all this about urinals as art?
So if I were to post this article about someone attacking R. Mutt's "Urinal" with a hammer, would that be considered a "One Link News Filter Pseudo Self Link FFP" ?
How can my father promote his New Orleans towboat pilot relief effort?
My father is attempting to start a New Orleans relief effort among towboat pilots (he is one himself). He's posted a "call to action" on his site, and I'd like to get the word out. I haven't posted it on the front page because it seems dangerously close to a self-link (and is just one editorial, really). Any suggestions?
Is This a Self-Link?
I am thinking of posting this to metafilter. It's my brother's warblog.
http://chris.whong.org/
I wasn't involved in the creation of this site (other than installing his blog software), but he is my brother. His deployment began today, and he started blogging.... So I thought "hey, a chance for people to start following from day 1, that's the best of the web, right?" Anyone have any thoughts?

Would this link be against self-link etiquette or policy?
I wanted to create an FPP for this ten second film festival, which I think would be of interest to many MeFites, but I've run into a couple of ethical and logistical conundrums: 1) The festival is being run by a friend of mine, so I suppose I might be a little biased as to this being The Best of The Web. 2) You really have to be in the Twin Cities area to see the screening and win a prize, even though submissions are accepted from anywhere. Any thoughts about this being FPP worthy?
Self-link, it seems
At least read the post before violating the main rule
If you are going to use MetaFilter to push your web site and agenda, at least read the freakin' post before you post your NSFW childish self links (on your first day as a member no less). Thank you.
Informative, but...
Welcome to "Me"tafilter.
Can I Self-link in Comments?
Is this self-linking?
