Metatalktail Hour: Unrequited Ask

From Bklyn wants to know, "How about questions you have asked in ask-me, but never got an answer to? Either because no one knew or you didn't formulate your question right - and maybe later you found out the answer?" [more inside]

Late Resolved Ask Me

In 2009 (when I had the appendage to my account name), I asked for help identifying a soda we used to buy at the co-op in Austin, Texas in the late 80's/early 90's. This weekend, my spouse found it on the internet: Corrs Natural Soda Ginseng Rush, as discussed in this Chicago Reader article from 1993. Have you resolved any lingering Ask.Mes lately?

But who will think of the QUESTIONS?

AxeMe's orphanage. It's just so sad - don't the unanswered deserve a shout-out on podcast?

Unanswered AskMe Contest?

Yahoo! Answers UK 5 million answers challenge-a gimmicky promotion for a not-very-good service, but it gave me an idea:

What if we had a contest for unanswered AskMe questions (those that haven't had a best answer marked) older than, say, a month? Suggested prize: choice of free Metafilter account or $5 for each unanswered question that was resolved favorably. Of course we would need a special page where we could view lingering unanswered questions. Which would be a pretty decent idea anyway; I would certainly read it.

Can we single out unanswered questions on AskMe?

As I watched my somewhat difficult and obscure question move unanswered onto the second page of AskMeFi today, I wondered aloud: "We have a filter for those marked best answer and one for fantastic topics, why not one for 'Stumped' that no one answers"? Or are there not enough unanswered questions?

I imagine the author of the question would have to mark whether an answer had been reached or not, and unanswerable questions like "Why does God allow suffering?" could be flagged and removed from the 'Stumped' category.

Is such a thing possible? Desireable?

Can I repeat my unanswered AskMe question?

A point of AskMe etiquette? I recently posted a question and got no useful response, and I suspect it's because I put the question badly. At this point, it's off the first page. Is it OK to repost the question in a more potentially useful way or should I just give up?

Unanswered AskMes?

For the samaritan looking to knock off a good deed for the day (and for symmetry, how I love thee), how about an AskMe button that shows only unanswered questions?
