The Card Club sign-ups were a while ago and we had an old appreciation thread several months ago, but what's new? Has everyone been enjoying sending letters? Got any good stamps? Any issues that should be discussed? Just want to squee about mail? Then this is the thread for you! Technically the old appreciation thread is still open, but the last comments were in August so I figured we were due for a new one. All the thanks to the all mighty and powerful Fig for setting this in motion and keeping everything running smooth!

Hi y'all! Comments are closed on the MeFi Card Club announcement post, and now that we're a couple months in, I thought it'd be nice to give folks a place to share their appreciation for cards they've received and/or check in about cards they've sent. Big thanks to Fig for organizing & running the exchange, and to everyone else who has helped this along!

I have noticed the most excellent regular updates to the front page sidebar (and bestof subsite) and just wanted to say GREAT JOB! Those posts really help me better enjoy all the cool stuff on MeFi that I might otherwise be missing. Thank you so much for keeping that thing full of fun new tidbits to read. It's like the best of the best of the web!

When we threw the 100k raffle back in November, we raised almost $1,000 for DonorsChoose.org. Since I couldn't find a direct organizational donation, I ended up funding several projects in science, culture, and special needs around the country. The thank you letters came pouring in this week and here are some screenshots: (1, 2, 3, 4). Thanks again all for donating.

I have included a link to MeFi in a list of suggested sites that users of a new virtual browser see when they're choosing a home page.

The list has a dozen or so sites that cover a spectrum of interests, both general and niche... and since my own experience with MetaFilter has been so positive, I wanted to include it as one of the niche offerings (along with, for example, SlashDot).

My fear is that my choice to include MeFi in the list may have impacts on the small community we currently have. I could remove the link or replace it with something like Plastic... or leave it in. I want the community's input--especially Matt's.
