I noticed this happening, and started to tune it out as noise. Then somebody, it might have been kirkaracha, made a comment that was the exact opposite of DuffStone's earlier comments upthread, and signed it '-Duff'. I spent ages trying to figure out what was happening.

You all think it's a big joke, but this is clearly the next stage of evolution in .sig virii.

Before an explicit .sig can propagate, the potential environment must be amenable to the existence of .sigs in the first place. The more abstract meme of redundantly signing messages in a forum where such signatures are not strictly necessary is analogous to lichens preparing rocky soil for higher plant life.

Expect to see more signed messages. The "facetiousness" of .sigs in this thread is the sheath that the memetic virus has used to hide it's telltale MNA from our communal defense mechanisms. Everyone is acting very humorously, but at the same time the acceptability of .sigs is reinforced.

Administrator please hope us. Hope us all.

Thanks for your nifty .sig. I already got a copy from alt.fan.warlord,
but with such a wonderful work of art, you can never have too many copies,
