London Meetup September 26, 2005 2:37 PM   Subscribe

London meetup. Let's make it happen! I arrive tomorrow, 27 Sept. (note proper continental date form), and leave on 3 Oct. I'm spoken for on the evening of the 28th and during the day of the 1st, but other than that, I'm open to suggestions. I'm staying around the East End, if that's relevant.

Eastend where, scody? i used to live the Brick Lane area. The Vibe Bar might be a good place to meet. How about Thursday evening? my email's not showing in profile so try urbanwhaleshark@yahoo.co.uk if you fancy a meet.

Say hi to the Brits for me, scody.

Just don't get involved with any of those East End Boys, scody. Leave those for the West End Girls.

also, I advise getting your kicks in Stepney, not in Knightsbridge anymore.

Damn! So close! I'm in London from this weekend until the end of October, but don't have free time until next week. I too was hoping to down a beer or two with any willing Mefites (next week, maybe?).

So apologies, Scody, for jumping on your bangwagon... but is there a rule about how often meetups can occur? I hope not. I especially want to have a pint with you, p_g.

The first rule is that there are no rules. By the way, P_G likes his pints pink :) (see photos from this summer's meetup)

This is a tricky week for me. I'd love to make it but I'm not sure how things are going to pan out. Thursday is probably the most likely for me, but even then I can't make any guarantees.

If you guys work something out, hopefully I can make a last minute dash...

At least the Chicago Manual of Style specifies that date form within the U.S. as well. I like it better because it reduces the need for punctuation.

It's probably going to be difficult for me to make it down to London this week. You guys should all come up to Cambridge though. :-)

I second the Cambridge idea.

MonkeyFilter had a Cambridge meetup and they didn't invite us! :(

Sadly I can't do Thursday. Would probably be able to do Saturday evening though (scody is only busy during the day). Failing that, I'll try and make the hot soup girl meetup, assuming there's going to be one.

I've got to make a meetup soon anyway, scarabic told me I had to.

I'm around town this weekend and could meet up. Thurs/Fri are out, sadly, but I can make Sat afternoon/evening?

I'll be in Buxton, getting lost on the moors with some hunky men (and slightly less hunky women!) from Friday to Saturday. Sadly - I won't make it :(

But have a beer for me...

Advice from another group. The SF fans of London, who have been gathering monthly in a pub for over 50 years, have recently found that Walkers of Holborn has well kept Real Ale, a lovely downstairs bar, and reasonable prices, all while being easy to get to.

Might be a good spot to meet. Wish I could be there, but I'm not likely to be on that side of the pond until the end of November, if at all for the rest of the year.

Hi all -- sorry to be checking in so late to this thread! Going up to Cambridge won't really work, as there's so much I want to see here before I leave on Monday. I'd be up for a Saturday evening pint if that works for anyone -- I'll be in the Soho/Holborn/Bloomsbury neck of the woods that afternoon.

Argh! Just realised that I'm due out for a meal Saturday night. Might be able to pop in if it's an early evening thing.

Hang on, is there anything planned for tonight or not?

Sorry cillit, guess there isn't anything for tonight planned -- I missed urbanwhaleshark's offer/email upthread. If anyone would like to suggest a time/place for Friday or Saturday evening (and/or email me in the meantime), please do.
