Pictures from Seattle meetup Oct 2005 October 3, 2005 12:08 PM Subscribe
Some pictures from the recent Seattle meetup which was inspired by an AskMe thread. Certain users couldn't make it but that didn't stop them from being there anyway.
Looks like it was good times Seattlites. I'm trying to not take the fork sign personally.

I love the masks. Especially the anonymasks, those should be standard issue for any MeFi gathering.

OK, I'm just a little confused by "Ethiopian food". I thought those poor bastards were starving. Sally Struthers keeps asking me to send money, so you can see the dilemma here.

HARHARLOL!!!! GOOD ONE DOOD!!!!
Actually I'm pretty sure that the regional cuisines are much older than the climate, political, and socio-economic conditions which have caused famine there.
Ethiopian (sometimes 'Eritrean') is delicious. You should try it.

Careful where you conflate those two. Wars have started over less.

The Bedele lager was also fantastic, absolutely the best and most interesting new beer I have had in ages.

That's one of the more surreal-looking meetups of which I've seen photos. Of this I approve.

Yes, Matt, the irony doth flow in both directions. It's a lame joke but a reasonable enough question to those with no direct experience with the food. I thought I might comment on it while we were on the subject. I'm jealous, too. We should do Ethiopian out here sometime. There're many good options, and beer goes well with it :)

delmoi, click on the link under that photo and it'll take you right to the thread where the phrase was first used (yes, by u.n. owen).

More photos here. I wasn't happy with the way my flash turned out (and didn't have time to adjust levels), so I just posted the ones not already duplicated by fatllama.

Hurf durf buttereater has become a part of my regular vocabulary. u.n. owen be damned, that's just a funny phrase.
