Columbus (OH) meetup, with turducken? November 3, 2005 4:40 AM   Subscribe

Columbus (OH) meetup, with turducken? If we could meet at the home of someone with a kitchen and a sense of culinary adventure, I could spring for the food and the beer (within reason; I have a job but I'm not independently wealthy).

Or we could all just go out somewhere, but I'm not paying anybody else's way. And I'd really like to try turducken. I'm not at all set up to do any real cooking or entertaining company. I could order a ready-to-cook turducken delivered wherever, whenever, buy the beer & booze, supply whatever additional groceries we agree to, and assist with planning, preparation, and cleanup.

I'm definitely down for a meetup, but I'm afraid I can't host. Most of our kitchen is still in boxes. Maybe some of the "North Coasters" would also be interested in driving down? I think they had a meetup recently.

I don't want to burst your bubble, but turducken is not that easy to just throw together in an evening. You may want to go with the readymade.

Having a ready-to-cook one delivered to the scene of the crime was pretty much my idea all along -- unless somebody else is a lot more skilled and ambitious than I am, in which case I'll front the money and be an extra pair of hands in the kitchen. In days of yore I was a lot more adventurous cooking-wise. Nowadays if it's not something I can heat in a microwave I can't be bothered.

I'll be in Springfield and Columbus for Thanksgiving, so if you meetup then, I might be able to come. Thanksgiving night is often dull, so going out to drink is good.

I'm pretty much available whenever. I didn't necessarily intend to have this happen Thanksgiving weekend, but if it does, that's OK by me.

OK, so far, this is three of us, and it's sounding like we'd go out.

(Shoot, maybe I'll just order the 4-lb. turducken roll and make my cat really happy.)

I arrive Weds., and expect to spend time with Mom. Thursday is The Big Day, and usually by 7 p.m., everybody is comatose and grumpy. Might as well take it out on y'all. I leave Saturday. Yeah, my window of opportunity is small.

It turns out I may be going out of town T'giving weekend, so I don't think I'll be in a position to organize this any further.
