It's an emote icon -- or "emoticon" -- which means you turn your head sideways to see it. The top of your head (bald or not) should point toward the left edge of the screen, with your chin (or beard, if you have a beard) pointing toward the right. As you tilt your head, keep your eyes focused on the glyph. If you do this properly, you should feel a surge of, in this case, sadness and hunger. (There are other emoticons that induce other emotions). Some people say they feel the effects more strongly if they squint or focus their eyes on a point twice as far away as the screen. Whatever it takes is considered acceptable.

Actually.... my afternoon activity ran late (handbell concert + brunch), and I'm not feeling 100%, so I think I'm skipping it. I blame all of you- if even *one* of you was going to be there, I would feel required to go.

Well, I did end up going. And nobody and afroblanco were there, too. And it was great fun- whoever knew duck was so delicious! I will definitely make the Eat Club a regular part of my social calendar.
