mysterious tag copy December 25, 2005 1:52 PM   Subscribe

Why do posts without tags appear with the mysterious copy "Tags: Wanna reach people who know their way around the Web? Contact FM." in place of a blank "Tags:" field in the newish Yahoo search results? (posted under bugs out of a better place to file it)

er, out of a lack of a better place, sorry.

Here's a place to report Y! problems/bugs if it's not MF:

(and I found an example so others won't have to search for a tag-less post like I did.)

The mysterious copy corresponds to the graphical ads -- that company handles the ads here.

You shouldn't be seeing them when logged in though.

Maybe since it's a Y! cache, it's showing up because Yahoo, when it cached the page, would not have been logged in.

I think I was seeing the results when logged in but reading via NNW. I did not verify in FF or IE or Opera. YMMV.

SuperNova's theory seems sound, actually. I still find it odd that it would insert after the "Tags:" widget. Sidebar code? In the instances where tags were extant, I did not note the copy.

Merry Xmas, anyhoo! Matt, whaddya get an n-month old?
