Speaking of little shows in New York, I've got one of my own. And I will probably be there!

The salient details:

It’s VITAL DRAMA, and comedy, and all that’s in between.

We invited alumni from the renowned Drama League Directors Project to tackle pieces they love, with playwrights they admire.

The results are unmistakably intriguing.

League Alumni Directors Fest

Max Sparber's The Older Gentleman "is set in a small, repressive Midwestern town in the early 1960s, where a college student and his flamboyant vocal coach discover they have more in common than anyone would suspect." Rob Urbinati directs.

I'm up for it. But I'll only be there for the day, and then for part of Sunday.

ok---before the show, in the afternoon?

Sounds great! The show's at At the McGinn Cazale Theatre on 2162 Broadway at 76th Street (Broadway!); is there a good bar nearby?

I'm always down for some good theatre.

The Dublin House on 79th and broadway is a terrific throwback.....can we forget my utter disaster of a meetup post and do this instead?

I sez yes. How does 6pm sound to people?

I'll be in Vegas. But have fun, party people.

I was looking forward to my first NYC meetup - but I'm not around this weekend. I'll keep my eyes peeled for the next one...

6pm sounds cool---at the Dublin House?

6pm at the Dublin House, May 6. 05/06/06/06 at 6.

God damn it. June would be cooler. Why don't they let me schedule my own plays based on fascinating numeric coincidences?

Sounds fun. And it's actually on a weekend, which is key to this nutmegger.

Also, I sense there may be no women in the cast of this play.
posted by smackfu at 12:06 PM on April 26, 2006

No, there's two! Two women!

And someone playing Robert Taylor!

Man, it's looking like I won't be making this one, as I'm leaving for Seattle tomorrow. I wish you the best of luck with your play, though. Hopefully we shall someday meet, Astro Zombie.
