Manhattan Meetup? May 12, 2006 9:02 AM   Subscribe

Hypothetically, if a MetaFilter member was taking his first trip to New York City on Memorial Day Weekend, and he set aside some time on the evening of Friday, May 26 for a Manhattan Meetup, hypothetically, where and when should such a meeting take place? [mi]

Also, considering that this meetup would hypothetically be in New York City, should this person hypothetically be afraid of being drugged and mugged?

I vote that we do the usual- bar/lounge type place, around.... 7:30?

You win this round, ColdChef, but I'll get you next time!
Already has hypothetical plans for that weekend.

ColdChef? In New York? I'm all atwitter!

I usually work late on Friday nights, so ColdChef, I'm counting on you to make sure everyone drinks for hours.

Hypothetically speaking, of course.

I'm down. Also, if Cold Chef wants to get drugged and mugged, I can help with that.

If enough people are going I might drop in a bit later (9ish)

I'm most afraid of the Pimps and the CHUDs. And my wife is concerned that Woody Allen will try to daterape me. I'm trying to convince her that those things rarely happen in Bloomberg's NY, right?

I have accepted the fact, though, that Broadway will probably turn me to gay. But, you know, that's the hazard of travelling!

VERY VERY hypothetically, if you keep drinking into late June, I could join the party.

I heard that 6/30 might be viable in that it is the day one of us enters (sadly) the unemployment roles.

I used to hang with the CHUDs before the movie came out. They weren't so bad then, but I hear they've gotten all swell-headed now that they're rich and famous.

No, you're thinking of Paris Hilton, often confused for the CHUDs.

So, has anything been decided here, location-wise?

Hypothetically , are you just here to promote your touring drag act as it passes through the village ?

I vote for Revival again. It's central, and they have that nice room upstairs that we can just take over.

I second the call for Revival.

So, Friday May 26th, at 7:30 p.m., at Revival?

Done and done. I'll see you bastards in hell.

I will clear my calendar for it; I'm still somewhat disappointed in myself for not making it to the last one.

And once again, for clarity's sake: this is the Revival over by the Union Square, and not the Revival in Harlem, yes? I fear that ColdChef's spouse may have a stroke if we take him to that one.
