AskMe: missing questions? July 10, 2006 2:20 PM   Subscribe

At present, there seem to be some askmeta questions missing, notably 41851 to 41860. I only noticed because I refreshed and a question that I *knew* was several questions down was now at the top. The missing posts don't have deletion comments on them so I'm guessing it's just a glitch of some kind?

I see them individually, do you mean that you don't see them on the page? I see them on the page too. Where do you not see them?

Well they are there now.

The order of questions by ID can have big gaps taken up by several anonymous questions that haven't been approved and when they are approved, they can appear out of order, with the order of appearance determined by the time they were approved. Nothing was deleted from the database so no actual posted questions are missing, it's just that you shouldn't navigate ask mefi by the URL and always expect it to work.

They still don't show for me. And it's not a numbering problem, I can see the questions if I go to the individual URLs. And I saw them there before on the front page, but they're gone now. Picture will be coming presently.

Are you using Firefox/Greasemonkey?

I am using firefox, and I do have greasemonkey installed, but I don't have any scripts installed that I know of.

The pic is here

I think I phrased it badly originally. The posts do NOT show on the front page of askme, but they do show if I figure out the URL and type in in.

Actually, further, the "how do I stop worrying" question says that the next question is "looking for a brainstorm about..." even though it should be "Why do my stainless steel pans look so bad out of the dishwasher?"

Actually re-reading mathowie's post I guess it is an anonymous re-numbering problem, since I see the posts that I thought were missing below. I guess for some reason I had thought that I had seen some questions newer than the "worry" question.

I guess now you can stop worrying.

Hmm. I think I remember why I noticed this. I was about to read a question about having an accident in someone elses' car but now I don't see it.

Uh, I see that question on the 9th now. So I guess maybe I was reading an older front page without realizing it. I might actually be some kind of retarded.

Yeah, I deleted an anon question because someone asked the exact same thing earlier.

Oh. That's it then. I'm slightly less crazy than I thought.
