I am so confused...are we supposed to know Kai and Graham and Sue? Did you mean to email this to your friends but accidentally posted it here?

Yeah, sure they do, but uh, they're typically not used when they post here.

I would think that would be exclusively the concern of Kai and Graham and Sue. Why do you care?

Good, point, languagehat, but I guess I just feel that MetaTalk should be used for postings to the entire community, not to 3 folks one could email privately. Whatever, I shouldn't care tho, you're right.

Well, meetup threads are for people in a local area, not the entire community. And probably most people in this local area (NOT YOURS) who have been to a couple of meetups know who Graham and Sue are. One may even use a variant of their real name as their username.

Look, this was a weird MeTa post which was, before I cleaned it up, basically copied and pasted from an email without even the >'s removed.
It's fine to have a local meetup and invite local people but this seems like less of a meetup post than a "here are the details of the party we discussed earlier" message. I just feel like I missed an earlier thread possibly, or maybe there's something on MeCha. Is everyone invited to Wilder's for the weekend? I think it was confusing people.

I agree with Michael.
And I'm really looking forward to Sunday.

We're just taunting the rest of you with details of our exclusive party with mystery guests to which you haven't been invited.
If that's not what MetaTalk's for, I don't know what is.

This looks great, but I'm going to be in Oxford for a Peruvian-Jewish ceilidh.

I'm having a birmingham meetup right now. In my pants. Or trousers. Or both.

Sorry guys, I was a bit pissed when I posted it, and too exhausted to edit it back to normal. I've been a very active bunny lately.
Cillit Bang, Essexjan, Chrismear at the chain gang weekend in my house, and yes it is to get them to clean up my office but they get fed and watered royally and generally shown around Hastings.
Sueinnyc & TheDOnF to follow on Sunday.
I'm experimenting on them cos they're all so hard to please. If it works out you can all come. OK?

Addendum: It's a Peruvian-Jewish ceilidh in a field in Oxfordshire.
I'll try and take photos but I'm not sure my camera will work underwater.
Have a good time, you guys.

Just to confirm paduasoy, the invitees were people I had met in meatspace. It seemed the best way to do this. The was no interntion to exclude, rather a feeling that the gang of us who get on so well at other meet-ups would be comfortable. After all, you're practically sleeping together!

Friday some supper when you arrive and into the seedy Karaoke bar in the old town. Maybe a quick walk around Old Town? Saturday long breakfast, some chain gang activities: Graham looks at the set-up vis-a-vis cabing up Sisi's room with Kai (if they need topop out to buy something to make it happen Kai will organise) Other things that need doing: I need help to get the BBQ cleaned from last year, tidy up the deck area, someone to help me clear a huge number of papers from my office, easy stuff, just need help to get them done! This should only take an hour maybe 1 1/2 tops if we can spilt up tasks efficiently ;-)
Lunch ( maybe the Persian Lamb? Pizza for Graham) we can go to Bexhill to see the Art Deco De La Warre pavillion walk by the seafront (swim for the brave) or see Battle Abbey and the site of the Battle of Hastings. Kai will lead a tour to Battle as he's the history buff, while I take those uninterested inhistory somewhere else.
Evening is free, either DVD ( anyone seen the last King of Scotland?) or local pub, whatever you want. Again people don't have to all do these things together, it is whatever you enjoy doing.
Sunday lazy breakfast again. Sue comes (with baked goods Yippee! so second breakfast or first for the lazy gits) around 11 (and Francis I think?). We go to the seafront for crazy golf, go karting, trampolining. Eat oysters and jeelied eels in the Jellied eel bar. Have fish & Chips next door in the Fish Hut. Visit the Fishermans Chapel where all local fisher children are baptised. There's a serious hill climb to the East Cliff (since the east cliff railway was hit by lightning!) or we could go see the Smugglers Cave on the West Cliff, a kind of Museum of Smuggling.
Or we could just walk along the seafront and skim stones, again whatever you fancy and we can do different things.
I though some food in my house (BBQ weather permitting) about 6-7 before you all head off?
