Forgetting the baby Jesus makes the baby Jesus cry.

I once - "twice, three times a lady..." - got lynched for this sort of post. So this is just to say I'm all for tradition.
Sorry, metrocake. Your posting history looks interesting, so I must me missing some insiders' joke criteria. If you do want to stake out this territory, why not just follow the gold standard for this kind of thing? :)

MiguelCardoso: I think this thread should go some way to explaining who first asked for a pony and why every now and again someone here pipes up that they just love pancakes/waffles/icecream.

If you get round to reading the whole thread, I never did find out what the hell was going on with X8IB though and I can't remember the thread it was on, his profile is no help, his 10 comments are invisible. If anyone can track it down again (go scoob).....

Well, davehat, this X81B thing is certainly interesting. Here's Iceberg's comment from this 1999 thread:
I'm not sure what frightens me more: the X8IB plague or the Zippity* plague. I'll be in my underground bunker if you need me. With the forcefield on.

But there's also an intriguing Zippetty-Doo reference, which mentions your own historic standing in this enigma, in a more recent Yahoo comment.

Now you've really got me confounded, i.e., interested! As Burt Bacharach and Hal David used to say:

What's it all about, Alfie?!

As one of the Daves, I mean. :)

This is not the dave you are looking for, after all, I'm not dave, I'm davehat. This is one of the zippity boppers; don't know who the others were.

"...don't know who the others were." Oooo. The Zippity-Bop conspiracy -- with the Zipruder film and the book depository...

Sorry, any references to pancakes immediately makes me think of the picture of the bunny with the pancake(or two ) on its head.....i think it is a Japanese website-if you are really lacking in something to do it can be Googled fairly easily.
or did someone post it on Metafilter once or twice? i forget....

Can anyone remember where first contact with X8IB took place? I've searched the site a fair few times and returned nowt so far.

Bunnyfire: The bunny was named Oolong.

Most of the X8IB posts have been...suppressed. But the montrous mentality behind X8IB is still among us in more pedestrian guise.

For us newtimers, what`s X8IB?

I'm not going to answer that, but those of you who are interested in that wacky MeFi lingo might want to revisit this thread from a sillier time.
