Photos from last night's London meetup.

I had a jolly good time. More of the same in a fortnight, please.

So did you guys formulate a plan for 5.10?
posted by randomination at 2:13 AM on September 21, 2007

Yes. Our Leader is to be carried in on a sedan chair, to the accompaniment of a fanfare of trumpets, as virgins scatter petals ahead of his arrival. The virgins, this being Metafilter, would, of course, all be male.

We are arranging a triumph for him.
posted by flashboy at 2:29 AM on September 21, 2007

I thought we were going to sacrifice him in a Wicker Man to ensure that Metafilter harvests are bountiful next year?

Moar photos.

The Wicker Man comes after the sedan chair/triumph/virgins. But before the animal masks.

I just got a good deal on tiger and elephant masks. Still waiting to hear from the guy with piglets and badgers.

i am again boggled at the failure to identify the people in the pictures. pictures are useless without usernames. all one has to do is click on the title and flickr allows you to title the image. it's really frickin' BASIC.

Identification will happen, slowly but surely, as the hangover recedes and the ability to identify people gradually returns. Hold your horses, grumpypants.

Mine aren't, because I uploaded them in the hungover five minutes I had while drying myself after showering this morning. Basic enough?

Next time, I won't shower, and will tag.

GO DIRTY FOR QUONSAR.

I think it's called "negging" now.

Lazaruslong: Want to create your own not hot at all british scraggly yet rather hip looking beard? Save time by simply cutting up a badger hair shaving brush, then rolling around in the leavings after covering your face in glue!

Scraggly? I can only assume you're referring to us.

Mean.

Eh, scraggly. I calls it hawttt.

Yaaayy! Thank you, everyone. You all were very lovely and you got me alcohol as well. Always a winning combination. Thanks for coming out. Sorry to folks I didn't get to talk to a whole lot who did stop by as well. I'd give everyone hugs if I could.

sparx: BADGER RAZOR!

Having just recently discovered the absolute joy that is Stephen Fry and Alan Davies on QI, your joke fills me with a most satisfying richness.

moses: Hawt indeed. That's why I want one. My Scottish heritage is failing me with respect to gruff facial manliness. Yarr.

Mr Spleen - you'll have to ask randomination about that, as it's buried in his photo collection somewhere (and is, in fact, from a previous meet-up that he never put photos up for because he's secretly quite the villain). On the plus side, though, it did have a face made out of food behind it, so it's got that going for it.

September 22nd, 2006: "London meetup photos and handy new Flickr group! Includes flagrant caret^ use."

Cheers to our absent friend chrismear for the stickers, and to optamystic for keeping me entertained for the entire day afterwards. And to old Sam Smith for his fine, fine beer.

I am compelled to post here and in the NYC meetup thread just to say y'all are some good looking guys and gals. Keep up the treatments, whatever they are!

Has it really been one whole year of MeFi London Flickr Group ah the memories we look so young oh but we never really change.

Looks like it was a fabbo meetup. I am glad to have been spiritually present via the medium of stickers and resemblance to Sparx.

It's the whole matter/antimatter thing I'm worried about for future meetups. Hopefully my advanced age and cunning will win out over your youth, naiveté and charm with the laydeez.

(Though if it doesn't - thankfully, I still have that portrait in the attic. As an object, it's very blunt....)

Seriously though, shame you couldn't make it, Chris. After two meet-ups I've heard *so* much about you. Mwahahaha(koff)ha!

(Back in New York now...)

Hey Chris, too bad you couldn't make it =(

I wish I'd taken more pictures myself so I feel like I'm contributing to the Flickr group, but got only 2 or 3 from the whole thing...and everyone's photos looks so much better too.
posted by kkokkodalk at 9:12 AM on September 23, 2007

I'll get back to a proper London meetup some point soon, Sparx. Not the next one, though. Give me a month. Or two.

Hope you had an excellent time in London, kkokkodalk! Sorry I couldn't catch you.

I also wanted to add that this has been an exceptionally educational trip for me. For one thing, I now get cillit bang's username! I saw it on TV! It's the UK version of Easy Off Bam! I don't know, that was very exciting for me.

I also realized my idea of what "pickles and cheese" sandwiches are was very incorrect. I always thought it was cheese with dill pickles or some such, but after actually eating one I now know they meant Branston Pickle. I had not know of this product's existence, but it was a delicious flavor combo and I even bought a jar of it to bring home with me.
