JoCo Show -- Go or No? January 17, 2008 2:37 PM   Subscribe

Is anyone else from Metafilter going to the Jonathan Coulton show at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco on 22 February? If so, seems like pre-show eats and/or post-show drinks might be in order.

It's a Very Special JoCo Show, according to Coulton's blog. Tickets are available via the venue.

I'm considering going. A possible meetup might push me over the edge.

Tonight I'm going there to see Dan Deacon.

What about mid-show drinks?

Hm. I'd be really happy to go & videotape him again if he lets me... It's a good show.

roll truck roll: How was the Dan Deacon show? I really wanted to go, but a visiting friend had other plans.

*re-reads article*

I also hope you’ll bring your own video cameras and send me whatever you get from them.

Score!

If you want tickets, get 'em now. As of this morning, the Great American Music Hall was sold out, but tickets.com still had some.

I'll be there and I'd be into pre-show eats.

It was just great. This was actually the third time I saw him live, and each time I love him a little more.

To start the show, we're all going to shout "Ethan Hawke" fifteen times. The first time you shout Ethan Hawke, you should be shouting his name at the top of your lungs like your his biggest fan. But by the last time, it's like you're realizing that he's just a mortal and he's going to die cold and lonely.

If you don't want to do that, then you can just shout your fifteen favorite scenes from "The Mask" instead. But you should still be mainly thinking about Ethan Hawke.

For drinks, incidentally, the Edinburgh Castle would be nearby & decent.

For food, I'm not so sure. There's a Mel's nearby, I guess. Further away, there are decent Thai & Indian food joints within a few blocks.

Even with tickets, we may want to go early for better seats.

And thanks Roll Truck Roll for the Dan Deacon recap. He's awesome! Were you at the Bottom of the Hill Show too?

Yeah, I was there. I also saw him at the Fillmore with Girl Talk. Being at a Dan Deacon concert is like being at Disney World when you're 5.

So, are we going to attempt to gather to share a table? My tickets are will call so I'll probably be arriving around 7. If I'm really with it, I'll take a picture and post it to my profile when I go home for lunch.

Dammit. Due to lack of timeliness on someone else's part, I can't afford to go tonight. Enjoy the show, though: JoCo has special plans.
