Chicago Meet-up: I'm going to be in town for An Event Apart the evenings of October 12 and 13th. How about a meetup?

I'd prefer Sunday, October 12th if at all possible. I'm staying at the Sheraton on East North Water Street, but I'm not afraid to hop the El to wherever y'all typically hang out.

I won't be there, but I was at the SanFran one, and just stopped in to say it was terrific, so if you're not looking forward to it, you should be.

That is right by the Billy Goat where we normally do the meetups. I think it's even closer than what the map suggests, because the marker doesn't line up with the street numbering on the map. I'll come out either night, because I'm such a steak n eggs whore, but I'm guessing the 13th will work better for most of the others, if they're available.

adamschneider, you have read my mind--or my calendar--I am a sucker for meetups, but Sunday night is bad for me. Monday, I have to skip yoga to be there, but yoga or whiskey in a thimble? it's an easy choice.

There's supposed to be some sort of An Event Apart shindig the evening on the 13th, but as that event is lacking in details at the moment, I'm cool with meeting on the 13th as well. I expect these "thimbles" of whiskey to be as big as my fist, however.

Much better than Wed. or Thurs. for me.

I'll be at the conference as well and would have time between the last session Tuesday and my departure at 10 to get togethr.

If we're at the REAL Billy Goat, I can probably make it Monday night at least for a bit. Rough week for me, work wise, but I'll try. Maybe you guys could sneak your way up the elevator into my office and kidnap me. Or bring beer up here.

I'm flying out of O'Hare at 8 on Tuesday, so that day is out for me.

I'll be up in Madison for the WFTDA Eastern Regionals, sadly. Have fun, though!

I think we're decided on the 13th; sciurus, you call the time.

I'm der.

(hopefully)

I should probably drop a note in here so I don't forget it. Why, if I forgot it, I might accidentally not come, like I have done for all the others thus far.

But hey, maybe I'll make it this time!

Are we the only regional MeFi group to have a meetup thread in both the upcoming and recent sections twice in a row? I think we are. We're just so goddamned sociable.

I'm in.

I can possibly make it.

Of note is that SantaCon Chicago is having a planning meeting Wednesday, October 15 at Rossi's on State.

Don't know if any of you are interested, but it's one of the more freaky things I do every year.

Well, shoot. That didn't take long. Mondays aren't going to work for me for at least a couple of months, so, count me out. On the bright side, at least I gave notice of my lameness a week in advance this time.

That SantaCon thing looks like a riot. I can't believe I haven't heard of it before. How many people usually show up for it?

Wellllll... I'm more of a Stanta Rampage type of guy, rather than a SantaCon participant. Something about being on a bicycle and being able to escape quickly just appeals to me more...

But I mean, people do both, and I might this year...

I couldn't go to Madison, so I might be around Monday. Hooray!

Rats. I had dates wrong in my calendar--I'll be at the Opera on Monday.
posted by crush-onastick at 7:23 AM on October 10, 2008

I have to stay a tad late at work, it takes me an age to get downtown and I need to stop off at the bank and the bookstore beforehand, so I may not be there right at 8:00, but not long after I should think. If you get there first, sciurus, we normally sit off to the left as you come down the stairs. Don't know if there'll be a sign as usual, because misskaz usually provides it. Lots of us have our pictures in our profile, though.

ach. I just noticed this.

I just noticed this too - I'm in class right now till 8:30pm. I don't think I'll be able to make it. I just want to go home and sleep. Mondays suck for me.

Have fun though!!

I'm still at work. Sorry, folks.

Anybody still there? I'm just getting off work now. I'll try swinging by.

Sucks to be the people who couldn't make it (which was most of you).

The small number of mediocre iPhone-camera photos I was obligated to take will be up, um. Eventually.

Sorry I missed anohter meetup guys - I was tied up late yesterday.

In the future, Tuesdays or Thursdays work good for me.

I hope it was a good one! Sorry to have missed it. I have started to count on regular outings with the imaginary friends.

The opera was a ridiculous story with pretty pretty music and a bunch of shirtless men.

They're all good ones, each and every special little meetup snowflake.
