Weird Permalinks in the FAQ October 26, 2008 11:29 AM   Subscribe

I was reading the FAQ, and I clicked on the "permalink" link for a specific question thinking it would be a link (anchor or something) for just that question, but instead it led to this page. I think it happens with all the FAQs, not just this RSS one; they all go to metatalk threads. Thanks.

Permalinks are working for me normally. Can you give a specific example?

Your URLs have metatalk.metafilter.com as the base URL and not faq.metafilter.com as with this link. Are you running any Greasemonkey scripts?

The problem stems from the fact that you can also get to the FAQ via this URL, and relative URLs we have for permalinks won't work there. I'm not sure where that link is (maybe in older MetaTalk threads?), we should probably find those and change them to faq.metafilter.com.

I just made the permalink URLs point to the faq.metafilter.com domain so this should be fixed.

Something I just noticed. The FAQ page says "at the moment the ordering is somewhat random and we're just collecting questions and answering them on the fly, but organization by category and tag will happen soon."

But it looks like the organization has already happened.
